Hawaii in Thailand? - Koh Kood -part 1

Koh Kood or Koh Kut is possibly Thailand's most pristine developed island and surprisingly it is not in the South of the country but just 3 hours drive from Bangkok, (plus an hour ferry ride).

My wife, daughter and I drove down from Sattahip where we live, that took just over 3 hours.
The "Boonsiri" Fast Catamaran Ferry leaves at 10:40 and 14:20 each day. It is 40 km from the coast of Thailand. Its actually closer to Cambodia but is definitely part of Thailand. We arrived at 11:00am so had some time to kill, next time we will plan that a bit better.

Koh Kut is the 5th largest island in Thailand and the second largest, (after Koh Chang) in the Koh Chang archipelago, (group of about 50 islands).

The land mass is still mostly tropical rainforest with gorgeous water falls and little rivers running out to the sea. This vibrant biodiversity is feeding the surrounding reefs with a wealth of fertility and the waters are teaming with fish and crabs.

It is the richness and diversity of life rather than the surf that made me think of Hawaii. It is far more sheltered, the waters are warm and the beaches really are made of pure white sand as soft as talc. I have not been to Hawaii yet, but we studied it my permaculture designers course, and learnt how interrelated the fish, corals and land plant and animal species are.

The Beaches are on the western side, as is the access road. The Eastern half of the island is pretty much un touched rainforest, which explains the incredibly healthy environment that is deeply touching to find still exists.

There is an old Siam charm about the place, the local business owners are relaxed, friendly and genuinely pleased to share the beauty with you. This is what Phuket and Koh Samui must have been like 20 years ago.

We stayed at the Neverland Resort, which was recommended to us by a friend who has lived on this island for over 30 years, but more about that in the next post..

By looking at the image i can say you all enjoyed a lot. Thanks for sharing. How was the climate there?

The water is warm, the air temp is probably around 30 deg. Celcius I guess. Its pretty warm, usually a breeze on the beach so it is comfortable in the shade. The bungalows are air conditioned so sleeping is easy. Truly a magnificent place, so lucky to visit and hope to return.

You and your daughter jumped too high. Looking very energetic.

Oh wie toll😊
Das Land des Lächelns!!!
I love it there!!!!!

Wie lange bleibt ihr dort?
Hoffe doch mindestens 6 Monate 😜🙃💕🙏🏼Weil ist toll da!!!!

Land of smiles - yes :)
I have been here for over 14 years
only 2 days on Koh Kood, but we will return for sure
I am very lucky to enjoy this country, do you visit often?

Ja! Ich war auch dort! I love it 😍

Excellent photography. Here I leave the link of my photographs to know a little of the mountains in Venezuela.

Hi Yohana, that is beautiful photo, thanks for sharing it!

Sweet! My buddy Drew i grew up with lives in Hawaii and does/teaches permaculture :D. Thats awsome im dabbling the idea of starting a small farm...

Permaculture could actually benefit from blockchain governance. The ability to gather and measure data objectively and allocate resources fairly based upon ecology rather than ideology, is possibly our greatest challenge and opportunity. Good luck with the farm project, its fun to watch things grow.

"our greatest challenge and opportunity." For sure.

Ty,much :)

Hey. Idyll! The sun, sea water, sandy beach and the lack of people. Ideal and beautiful place to relax, enjoy life and forget about the problems :)) Nature itself has created all the conditions for relaxation and relaxation :))

Thanks for the high vote for my last comments :)) Good luck! :))

Good read. But i'm also the guy that puts everything into BTC hoping to get rich.

there are some very rich people on the island, others living very simple, even some very rich people living very simple. For sure though, to stay in Thailand requires income, crypto is still the most interesting place to invest if you can handle the risk and volatility.
