사용된 글자의 수는 일반적으로 알려진 알파벳보다 무려 10배가량 많으며,

기독교, 이슬람교, 이교도가 같이 공존하는 세상을 다룬 내용이라는 주장이 있다.

세상에서 가장 미스테리한 책 중 하나인 보이니치 필사본은

15세기에 제작된 것으로 추정되며

전혀 알려지지 않은 문자와 언어로 쓰인 것이 특징이다.

아직 해독에 성공한 사람이 없으며, 단지 삽화를 통해

그 내용을 약초학 ,천문학 , 우주학, 연금술이라고 추측할 뿐이다.

한편으로는 정교하게 만들어진 가짜,

즉 아무 의미 없는 문자들의 배열이라는 말도 있다.

최근에 이 필사본의 정체는 건강에 관한 꿀팁을 기록해놓은 거라고 하며

해석이 되었다고 하지만 확실한 것은 아니다.

Rongorongo

Rongorongo is a system of glyphs discovered in the 19th century on Easter Island

that appear to contain writing or proto-writing.

Numerous attempts at decipherment have been made, none successfully.

Although some calendrical and what might prove to be genealogical information

has been identified, none of these glyphs can actually be read.

If rongorongo does prove to be writing and proves to be an independent invention,

it would be one of very few independent inventions of writing in human history.

하라파에서 발굴된 인장이나 토기 위의 각명에서

많이 찾아볼 수 있으며 현재까지 총 396종이 발견되었다.

최근 롱고롱고 문자와의 관련성을 두고 많은 논란이 되고 있는데

학자들의 주장에 따르면 인더스 문자와 롱고롱고 문자가 매우 유사하다는 것이다.

실제로 현재까지 발견된 396종의 문자 중 100개가

대자는 관련 자료가 너무 부족한 탓에 아직 해독된 문자가 발견된 1,600자 중

188자밖에 되지 않는다고 한다.

거란문자가 왜 해독방법이 없냐고 한다면 징키즈칸의 아비인 예수게이

(진짜 이런 이름임)를 죽인 부족이

거란족 분파였기 때문에 복수 차원에서 중국으로 남하할 때 거란 문명 전부를 불태우고

거란 민족의 씨를 말려버렸기 때문이다.

최근 몽골에서 발견된 거란 비석의 비문이 글자 해독의 실마리를 조금이나마

제시해 줄 것으로 보였지만 로제타 스톤만큼의 위력은 없는지라

여전히 난관에 빠져있는 상태.

만약 이 문자들이 완전히 연구되면 불교학의 발전에 엄청난 공헌을 할 거라고 한다.
