Four reasons why I believe Lagos is overhyped.

Home of the proud and the humble, the good, funny and the mad.
Lagos is like the box where all kind of things jump off. Would this be a cause for a hype? No! Maybe, yes!
Don’t get me wrong! Don’t even dare take this personal. Neither in anyway is this article a jab at lagosians in anyway.
I would love to keep things safe. Shall we proceed?
Lagos, the center of excellence is no doubt a dream land for many. Fact remains that, many are trying to fit in the Lagos sphere and this has been a big shot for the population. Let’s call a spade a spade. I believe Lagos is quite over hyped, much more than what it is at the moment.
You disagree? Wait!
You have not been to Lagos recently? No need… We won’t throw fist when my post justify my theory.

  1. Dream Environment:
With the way people talk about Lagos, you'd think crappers would be rooted off clouds, road tared from end to end like the...
The reverse is the case. The Lagos right now is quite dirty. Blame that on power change and inadequate maintenance, but truth be told, Lagos is dirty. Besides, the building structure is nothing different from how other states have their buildings. If you had expected Lagos to look like places you see in American movies, sorry to break your heart.
Hey! There are cute places in Lagos. A lot of places in the Island area are dope and are beautiful set to the eyes.
But what do you call an entity with 20% good and 80% not too good? I leave you with your decision.

  2. Out of the sphere expenses:
We all believe Lagos to be the power house of Nigeria as per industrial set up. But to be honest, we have more qualified unemployed people in Lagos than any part of this country. This is a note on the reclining economy, and it’s quite a wage on the money circulation in that state. But the inflation in the state makes the whole equation go unbalance, presenting a situation where everything becomes hard to get. Accommodation and living at a whole is quite expensive. Not everything is equally expensive, but moving from one place to another is war; traffic jam holding you down till you grow old on the road.

  3. Space shipping:
Lagos is jam packed and that is so obvious that it slows everything down. Unlike other states where you can visit a truck of location at once, Lagos is not easy for a man without car and even those with car still find it, not easy. It’s like fitting five men into a bottle that can’t keep a rat trapped.
Houses in most part of the state are so built together that you'd think both landowners don’t know where their land stopped.

( 4.) XXX:
What if I told you Lagos is overhyped? At first you would never have believed. Now you made me cook up a lot of stat for you. Well, all said is true. Lagos is Lagos and if the so called Lagosian stop sounding the Lagos theology like Lagos is out of this world and that people in there walk with their head and you would think they do feed on diamond, then Lagos won't be Lagos and you would never have stopped to read this in the first place.

I agree totally with this writeup, the way those that live in Lagos talk about Lagos to those outside Lagos makes you feel Lagos is heaven on Earth.
Residing permanently in Lagos is really tough especially for those coming into the city for the first time.
You need to have a good source of income to send your kids to really good schools and fend for your family.
The saying "the money you earn in Lagos stays in Lagos" is quite true too because saving will be really hard if you don't use your head.

Just my little contribution!!!!
