If the lake is a caldera then Mt Batur is a secondary cinder cone at the side of the caldera. Very interesting.

If you mean Pura Ulun Danu Beratan (which I visited) it sits on the Lake (Danu Beratan), and is next to this lake... :)
There is another, Pura Ulun Danu Batur but it is away from the lakeside...
I was just thinking, if this lake is within the caldera of Mt Batur... it would make this entire scene inside the caldera too... awesome! Makes sense when you look at the map - Danau Batur is a crescent shape, and I imagine it's kinda hugging the sides of the caldera...

Yes if you look at the satellite the caldera is huge and clearly visible, lake covers only a small part of it. Mt Batur is just a tiny cinder cone compared to that.
