Landscape/Seascape Contest Week #015

This is my entry for @axeman's Landscape/Seascape photo contest, week #15. Please see this post for all details.

I captured this photo of Peyto Lake in the Canadian Rockies in September, 2016. We were traveling, and I wanted to be there early in the morning, but we still had some distance to drive to get there. This photo was taken a little after 9 AM and the light was still pretty good but not ideal. Earlier in the morning would have been better - so that's a note for improvement next time! The slightly turquoise colour of the lake is due to mineral deposits in the glacial runoff water.

Howdy again sir Keith! That is just amazing. And that one could be blown up to poster size or wall size? That has to be one of the bluest colored lakes I've seen.

Strange blue, isn't it? I don't normally have things printed larger than 2 ft x 3 ft, but I did have one photo put on a 4 ft x 6 ft sign. Here's another look at the glacial water in the lakes and rivers of the Canadian Rockies.

wow..golleeee! that is magnificent. Everything about it, the reflection, the water color, the mountain, forest, just beautiful sir Keith!

Pity the picture is not loading, my internet connection is too bad :(

That's a shame... I always upload fairly small versions of my photos. I often have the same problem as you, stuff just doesn't open, and I figure many times the issue is large file sizes.

Then you can imagine how bad my connection is

Yes, sometimes I think my problem is my wifi router... I reset it and then it works better for a while.

I do the same, but also restart the app or Internet. Also thought it might be the weather or, or...

To be honest I think the provider simply cuts us down... they do not have the capacity to serve all their members.

Great image, love the colour of the lake :)

Thanks very much, Steve!

That's just amazing! I visited Banff many years ago and was blown away by the color of the water. I should go back!

Thank you! Yes, the colour of the water is so cool...

This is one of those shots where I wonder how did they do that! Perfectly lovely scene, colors (and 9:00 lighting)

The turquois must be unique to that area with those specfic mineral deposits....cool. i would like to have this color in my crayon box. Lol

Thanks so much @nana-nini! Yes, that turquoise colour is in all the rivers and lakes in this area. It's really amazing to see! :-)

Great photo. I love the striations on the mountains and the way they are accented by the snow

Thanks a lot, Steven, glad you like it!
