My Homesick Remedy

Vancouver, BC, Canada, more specifically a view of the lower mainland, as seen from Grouse Mountain. Whenever I'm feeling homesick, I turn to this image. Although it's not technically a great shot nor is there any specific point of focus, I love this shot because of what it embodies (to me). I shot this through the scuffed plexiglass of a descending cable car full of people and ski gear.

Seeing the sunset colors above the clouds reminds me of the awesome colors of spring and autumn. The drab grays and blues of the ocean and city reminds me of the rains in spring and winter (at least we're not Seattle 😄). Seeing the ocean I remember the cruises, the fishing trips and the canoeing. Being on the mountain, surrounded by greens, I remember the skiing, hiking and biking. The city, how I love my city and our pro sports franchises, the Vancouver Canucks, Vancouver Whitecaps, Vancouver Canadians and BC Lions.

After looking at this image and reminiscing for a bit, my head rights itself and I'm good to go, for at least a couple more months 😄 but I can't wait to go home!
