MY OFF-DUTY JOURNEY #2: GETTING OFF SOME FRESH AIR AT THE BEACH

Are you looking for a place to unwind?

How about swimming in an islet?

The best part of my job is when my off-duty is coming. My head is very busy thinking some place to unwind. A place wherein I could relax my body and mind from a toxic work that is full of cases to be filed in court. I need a stress reliever place.

I was dragged by my feet in this fine white sand beach of Panay beach located at Hernani, Eastern Samar. This beach is known having some beautiful islet.

Before the Typhoon Yolanda hits Eastern Samar, Panay beach has some floating cottages to rent, but now it has only one floating cottage left where you could clearly see the islet and swim around the cottage.

It’s lovely to bathe in a natural water pool of this islet, to lay down in the cold narrow water and just feel easy and comfortable. But prepare to get a sunburn. Protect yourself with a good sunscreen and you will have a nice day here!

There are houses built on this beach but they observed cleanliness. The local's means of living is fishing. Those boats were owned by them.

It is lovely to stroll barefooted around the beach where you can feel the fine white sands. The local community properly maintained this beach. They provided some open cottages and a clean comfort room. You can bring your own foods, from fancy to a classic picnic food. The cottage rent cost $10. There is no entrance fee but you must be responsible for your trash.

• From Tacloban to Hernani, you boarded a van. The fare cost $4.
