Rainbow Bridge At Sunset - Shot Thursday (and a bit of "how-to")

This is the "keeper" photo from Thursday's sunset shoot at Rainbow Bridge above Donner Lake and Truckee, California. The video of the making of this photo can be seen on this DTube video HERE, but this is a clickable photo that can be viewed large.

Rainbow Bridge is another "go-to" spot for me that is easy and quick to get to when I make those last minute decisions to grab the camera and head out after dinner. The clouds were looking like they were lining up for a nice sunset and fortunately they delivered the goods!

This photo is a stitched panoramic, 20 images were shot vertically while panning the camera on a tripod, they were then stitched together using Photoshop's photomerge feature. It was shot on a Canon 5DS R with a 16-35mm lens set at 35mm. Two graduated neutral density filters were used as well as a polarizing filter. The ISO was 200, the aperture was f8, and the shutter speed was 3.2 seconds long for each of the 20 shots.

Sidenote: I'm heading out backpacking this weekend! It's just a one-nighter but some friends and I will be trekking to one of my favorite little lakes, Pyramid Lake. I'll be taking the Canon camera and of course the cell phone, hopefully I'll have some cool video and photos to share when I get back. I hope you all have a great weekend!
