Lloret da Mar - Costa Brava Spain

Just recently I went over to Spain for a short break relaxing and sightseeing. I met some amazing people over there and we all stayed together and became great friends. On my last day in Lloret da Mar I decided to go for a walk along the beach and stumbled across this vantage point to admire the view along the beach.

I followed the path going downhill and then up many steps to this vantage point to see this statute La Mujer Marinera.

After leaving the statue I continued along the promenade stopping every now and then for a rest on my way to this castle.

Castell d’e Plaja is privately owned and was built in the 1930s.

On my way back to the hotel I stopped off at another castle which I was hoping to go inside and take a look at but for some unknown reason it was closed. There was a board on the fence with the prices for entry. My Spanish not that great I could not read much.

Castell de Saint Joan dates back to the 11th century. The chapel was built in 1079.
England went in to war against Spain and France which ended with the Battle of Trafalgar which had a disastrous effect on the tower.
In 1805, the British Navy bobarded the tower, which destroyed this fortified site.
Over time in the 19th century the tower was reduced to a pile of rubble.
The castle has been rebuilt and this is Castell de Saint Joan as it would of been in the 11th century.
