For Laser Tattoo Removal Treatment, call us today. We will schedule a consultation with an expert who will first evaluate your tattoo and advise you on the process. The number of treatments required will depend on the colors, size, and age of your tattoo. The color of your skin as well as how deep the tattoo pigment goes are also factors that will determine the removal technique.

What Is Laser Tattoo Removal?

At your Cosmetic Laser Center, lasers are used to remove tattoos by breaking up pigment colors with a high-intensity light beam. Black tattoo pigment is the easiest color to treat as black absorbs all laser wavelengths. Other colors can be treated only by selected lasers based upon the pigment color.

Smaller tattoos require fewer pulses. Larger ones will need more pulses for removal. It will take several treatment sessions to completely get rid of your tattoo. After each treatment, your tattoo will become progressively lighter.

What special care is required after the process?

• Immediately after the Laser Tattoo Removal Treatment, use an ice pack to soothe the treated area. Apply an antibiotic cream or ointment and bandage to protect it. Cover the treated area with sunblock when you are outside.

• To help reduce discomfort and inflammation, apply cool compresses as necessary to the treatment site for 24 hours after the tattoo removal. You can take acetaminophen tablets for pain relief, but avoid aspirin as it can increase the risks of bruising and/or bleeding.

• Keep the treated area clean and dry. Gently clean the area with soap and water. Pat dry, do not rub.

• We recommend that you apply a thin coating of antibiotic ointment three times a day for the first three days while the area is healing. Cover the area with a sterile dressing for those three days.

• Avoid picking at the scab and protect your skin from being scraped. This may cause infection and scarring.

• Do not shave the treated area until it is completely healed.

• You may take a shower two hours after the Laser Tattoo Removal, but take care to avoid high-pressure water hitting the treated area. Avoid baths, hot tubs, swimming pool, etc. until your blisters and scabs completely heal, as they increase the risk of infection.

• It is safe for you to exercise safely after your treatment.

• Apply a sunblock with SPF of 25 or higher over the area for three months following the laser treatment. Do not apply makeup, cream or medication on or near the treated area unless we suggest that is safe to do so, usually after 48 hours.

What common side-effects are experienced after laser tattoo removal?

• Itching is a very common side-effect owing to the dehydrating effect of laser tattoo removal. Aquaphor, Vitamin E ointment or hydrocortisone cream may be applied to the treated area.

• Blistering may occur within eight hours after your treatment. This is a part of the Laser Tattoo Removal natural healing process. Blisters indicate that your immune system is healing the treated area and beginning to remove the ink from your tattoo. Your blisters may pop, which helps your skin to recover faster. You should continue to apply antibiotic ointment over the blisters once they have popped for at least 24 hours.
