LBRY is a fat protocol that provides decentralized digital content, discovery, distribution and purchase. Like Youtube without a central authority.

Alpha release was buggy - They've been working a lot to improve the client.

Movies are being hosted on LBRY, and they're making more profit than on other platforms.

They have helped with censorship issues - Hosting Berkely lessons due to a lawsuit - all hosted for free on LBRY now.

Preparing for the next stage - They have proved that it's a viable product and it can work so they're working on the next steps.

They are trying to make it more user friendly - normal users that do not know anything about cryptocurrency should be able to use it

What has changed about the LBRY naming scheme?

You can get a permanent name on LBRY and you can own and control that URL.

What are the advantages or LBRY having it's own coin vs ether or other platforms?

Ethereum currently can't handle the volue of selling coins for a single company (status)
What will happen when all the companies are in production on the ethereum network?

LBRY is able to be changed and will only impact the LBRY blockchain, and it can easily be changed
vs being in a walled garden.

How are you going to get more people consuming content, and how to get more people uploading?

Make sure you have good quality content
Partner up with content creators to start hosting their content on LBRY
Incentivize users to start using the platform (rewards)
Join the slack channel to get an invite

How do you get LBRY credits will it only be BTC to LBRY or will there be a different way?

They are working on a solution to this issue but they are not ready to release the details yet
Possibly a debit / credit card to token exchange built into the client (My personal opinion)

Will there be a mobile app for LBRY?

Absolutely! It's in the pipeline and it will definitely be a product that's released soon.

When will Encryption be coming to the LBRY wallet?

This is in the works at the moment, it may or may not make it into the Open Beta but it's definitely something that's being worked on.

How would you think that youtube would respond to losing content creators and millions of dollars?

Companies typically copy something in order to compete. If Google did this then they would have to fundamentally change their model and they would not be able to make nearly as much profits as they currently do.

It's possible that Youtube might do things via LBRY but it's unlikely that youtube will do so.

Why would a content creator choose to use LBRY?

You make more reveneu using LBRY vs youtube. You also have full control of your content.

When is the open beta?

There are 5 issues that need to be addressed before the open beta comes out.
It's just around the corner - Promised to be updated by the end of July.

Could you name other names or ideas where other users could build on top of the LBRY protocol (forks)?

Would LBRY have ads like Youtube in the future?

Youtube creators don't make much in the first place about 45% is taken by google so they only make pennies on youtube. They're already making a lot more by using LBRY.

Yes ads may come eventually.

YT videos are not free unless your time is worthless.

You could implement it so you either watch an ad or pay a credit to watch the video.

How will you handle bandwidth and storage issues?

LBRY may incentivise users to share bandwidth and storage space - this could potentially include ISP's

How long until someone builds an indexing program to seach for content?

currently you can use the block explorer to find content but this is something that someone may be able to work on at the moment to contribute to the project.

Could you do a sliding pricing scale so users can choose how much they pay?

Yes, this will be implemented later on

Has LBRY solved all the scaling issues?

No. No one has figured out how to properly scale blockchains. This is something that will be tackled as the issues are explored and arise.

How are you going to handle metadata like comments, votes and categories?

Comments work nicely within the protocol already
Votes are tricky - haven't really thought about it much
Categories / tagging - we have absolutely thought about this - leave it up to the creator to tag
We might have the community contribute to tagging as well.

Some users can tag their videos with completely irrelevant tags so it'd be good to have the community help out with this issue.

How will LBRY handle DMCA takedown requests?

LBRY has to comply with the USA laws
LBRY is not liable for the content that's uploaded but is required to take it down if it's requested.
There is a report button in the application - and these request will be handled as they come in.

Will there be content filtering for kids?

Yes, this is something that will be implemented in time.

Will charities / non-profits received pre-mined credits?

Yes, certain content providers and creators will be assisted with setting up their content on LBRY
