A leader is not necessarily the one without flaws nor is he the one with the best head, but a leader should be capable of pushing others to attain a common goal and also help with self-development. Most of the time, progress is stunted because of bad leadership and when the leadership is wrong, everything that has to do with a country, an organization or even the household would be wrong.
With the vast arrays of resources Nigeria is blessed with, we should be competing with the best in the world. It is so disheartening that Dubai only has about 5% of their income from oil and yet they could do massive things over there and Nigeria, with total dependence on oil is still in a dilapidated state. This begs for attention. Oh yes, I would love to visit Dubai one day. I am hopeful it will happen.
A lot stems from leadership and when we get it wrong then it is hard to build on the wrong foundation because with time things will crumble. Leadership starts with you and I, and when we become better persons, it is easier for us to become better leaders. Often times we feel leadership is meant for some selected few and that is wrong. Leadership is for everyone. A lot of people have a wrong notion about what leadership is not.
We sometimes feel it should be for selected few and we look more to others than we look to ourselves. We are all potential leaders if we harness our inward abilities but we should know that leadership is in different categories. While some are so obvious, some might not be, but at least it would be obvious to those you are having an oversight on. Most of us want leadership positions just to be seen. It shouldn’t be a popularity contest because your good works should put you up there in the echelon but we sometimes chase the wrong thing and have leadership twisted.

One of the things that make a leader truly a leader is dynamic, ability for the leader to carry people along therein facilitate growth. He must not just a order given, by leaders by example. As nothing motivate followers in a positive way other than seeing a positive leadership model. When people see results from their leaders, they will surely be motivated to do more as they would believe they have chance.
People like to follow someone they can respect, someone that can add value to them and not other way round. Our leaders in Nigeria are really not a leader but rather bosses who give orders, they don't seems to have to the masses in the agenda just like a boss that prefer to know more about the income and expenditure than the employees welfare.
Brilliant as usual. Yes, a leader should be dynamic and carry everyone along. When they achieve a result, the glory should be shared and not just the leader taking the glory alone.
Everyone would naturally follow those that can add value to them and anyone would gladly love to go where he or she can add value as well.
Leadership is all about taking everyone together. And taking responsibility of every action. A leader should never be mean rather than be open to make everything possible for the welfare of all

Exactly, a leader should be able to manage a lot of people together, manage ego together and also bring everyone together to achieve a common goal. A leader should be a driver and not a mean person as you have rightly pointed out.
