Zitronenfalter ■ Common brimstone

Der Zitronenfalter ist ein Tagfalter aus der Familie der Weißlinge (Pieridae). Kein anderer Tagfalter in Europa lebt länger als er. Mit einem Lebenszyklus von bis zu 12 Monaten fliegt er in einer Generation. Man kann ihn fast das ganze Jahr über beobachten. Die kalten Wintermonate verbringt er ganz ohne Schutz in der Natur und verkriecht sich im Efeu an einem Baum. Er widersteht dem Winter mit seinem harten Frost indem er einen Frostschutz in seinem Blut aktiviert. So kann der Falter komplett einfrieren, um mit den ersten warmen Sonnenstrahlen nach dem Winter schon im Februar zu fliegen. Nach der Eiablage im April schlüpft aus einer Gürtelpuppe der Falter. Dieser legt über die heißen Sommerwochen eine so genannte Diapause ein. Während dieser Zeit ist der Zitronenfalter nicht zu beobachten. Erst im Herbst wird der Falter wieder aktiv. Der Zitronenfalter stellt keine besondere Ansprüche an seinen Lebensraum und gilt in seinem Bestand als nicht gefährdet.

The common brimstone is a butterfly of the family Pieridae. No other butterfly in Europe lives longer than it. With a life cycle of up to 12 months, it flies in one generation. One can observe it almost the whole year over. The cold winter months it spends completely without protection in nature and hides in ivy on a tree. He resists the winter with his hard frost by activating a frost protection in his blood. So the butterfly can freeze completely to fly with the first warm sunrays after the winter already in February. After laying the eggs in April, the butterfly hatches from a puppa. This inserts over the hot summer weeks a Diapause in such a way specified. During this time the common brimstone is not to be observed. Only in autumn does the butterfly become active again. The common brimstone does not make any special demands on its habitat and is not considered to be endangered in its existence.

Noch ist es nicht so weit, dass der Faulbaum blüht. Der Zitronenfalter legt seine Eier am Faulbaum oder auch Kreuzdorn ab. Hierbei werden die jungen Blattaustriebe bevorzugt. Wenn man das winzige Ei sieht, versteht man die perfekte Anpassung an die Natur. Bei dieser Aufnahme habe ich ein Weibchen bei der Eiablage beobachtet um das Ei anschließend zu fotografieren.
