The last female softshell turtle on the world died!
The turtle was living in Suzhou Zoo in China, she was the last chance for her species.
The female giant soft shell turtle (also known as Yangtze turtle, called to the Yangtze river.) became approximately 90 years old. 24 hours before the turtle died researchers had tried to artificially inseminate her. The Yangtze giant softshell turtle is one of the most critically endangered species in the world. There is one male Yangtze turtle left in the zoo, and one giant soft shell turtle is living in the wild in Vietnam. The Vietnamese turtle is believed to be male, but because they are so elusive, determining its sex has been difficult.
