Fear, the Supremes
Imagine Fear
...Living Your Life In Fear, Every Day!
is something that for some, they have to fear.
They cannot tell their parents, or friends,
they cannot be who they truly are in front of their boss,
or colleagues, or at the store, or, really anywhere!
Imagine that.
I am living in a very small slice of the world, where, being true to your self
is NOT something that can get you killed.
Yet, increasingly, in my country, those fears are increasing...
This past week, the President announced a pick for the Supreme Court.
... and among the nominee's rulings and writings are clear signs
that he believes that Fear needs to return.
The Fear is justified again.
It's so sad that we are taking such large steps backwards, and people's basic human rights are disappearing before our eyes. E x
It pains me.
...and affects personally quite a few friends and family.
I think one of the saddest things I ever read was in a letter from a friend who was coming out to me. He wrote how as a teen he'd had to teach himself how to move and speak in ways that were acceptable to his peers so they would not decide to beat him up for being who he was.
When I thought about the era he was talking about. The boys beating him up would have been cheered on and he would have been left in what ever heap he fell in. No one should have to live with fear for being who they are.
it's terrifying.
and I feel like we are heading back that way
Yeah in some places we are back there. Humanities inhumanity
