Social relationships within the society become one part in the science of Sociology. We every day establish social relationships in a society that is dynamic and formed based on social values ​​and norms.

Understanding Social Relations

Social relationships are activities undertaken by a person or group to interact with each other. Thus, social relationships form mutual relationships between individuals, between groups, and between individuals and groups. Social relations can be formed due to the desire of individuals and groups to meet the needs of life.

Social relations can be categorized as either a social reality or a social phenomenon. The characteristics of social relations as follows:

  • There are two or more parties as actors in social interaction.
  • There is communication.
  • There are goals to be achieved.
  • There is a time dimension covering the past, present, and future.

Basically humans are always trying to establish social relationships. For example, humans form families and do activities with family members.

Social relationships that are well established in the family can create a harmonious life. If family members can not maintain and maintain rapport, the family life will experience a rift.

To create a harmonious life in the environment, we should establish good social relationships. That is, we behave according to social values ​​and norms in society. For example, we develop an attitude of tolerance in society so that conflict or conflict can be avoided.
