They Wouldn't Make Any Money If You Loved Who You Are

Have you watched any commercial saying how beautiful you are, how healthy you are and what a great life you have just trying to sell you something by doing that? I haven't. It's always about not being enough, not having enough and not fitting "there" if you don't use the X product, whatever it might be. But if you buy that product your life will change immensely.

You might think that commercials are "harmless" and that you and I are the ones that decide what we need and what we want in our lives and by watching some 20 seconds commercial clip every day we won't get manipulated to buy that product and it's just our decision to do it. A product that doesn't have only designers and video creators behind it, but very good psychologists also that are working for it to sell.

People that know very well how images, colors, words, background music and tonality work on our subconscious mind and how to use all of them to make us feel sick, incomplete, not beauty enough and to buy their product to change all of that for the better. It takes much more than actors and a good scene and music to make an effective commercial clip and some companies are spending more on advertising than on researches for their products.

Just recently I finished reading a book by Eldon Taylor about auto-hypnosis and subliminal techniques and it is amazing to discover how powerful the subconscious mind is and how much it can transform us...in any way. Thus the ones that are masters in using "the right tools" to manipulate it are very often behind some of the best advertising companies and why not social media platforms that we use everyday.

Facebook and Instagram are no exception. Both of them give their users models of beauty, examples of happy and wealthy lives indirectly suggesting to their users that their lives are a mess and all that they have is just "garbage" that needs to be thrown away compared with others and that they should start chasing "the models" of the 21st century that are rocking social media platforms in order to be happy, wealthy and healthy. A never ending chase.

It's all happening with our consent though. The TV remote control is in our hands, the Facebook and Instagram apps are at the touch of our fingers and it is in our hands to decide to appreciate what we have and what we are, having goals to improve ourselves also, but the ones nailed by us and pursued with our "free will", not influenced by mainstream media and social media. We really are perfect the way we are with all our qualities and flaws that we might be aware of or not.

I know that this post might sound a bit like a motivational speech that you might have watched or read many times before but it's not. It's just some simple things that I realized by reading, by watching TV once in a while just to see what's changed and nothing more, and by living without Facebook and Instagram for almost two years. Social media and advertising was not created to make our life better, but to profit the ones who created them. That I'm 100% sure of.
