The outgoing 2013 was marked by several extreme natural phenomena and a record sea level. Preliminary data from the World Meteorological Organization, a specialized UN agency, also show that 2013 is probably one of the ten warmest years since 1850, when they began to measure.

The organization will make final conclusions by March of next year, but already now experts are confidently talking about a record rise in sea level, which is projected to continue.

The period from January to September on the planet was warmer than the same period of the past two years. Among the registered maximum warm periods, it is in seventh place along with 2003.

Temperatures above average were recorded in Australia, North Africa, northeastern South America, northern North America and most of Eurasia.

Recalling the major natural phenomena and cataclysms with which the year 2013 was saturated, let us highlight the ten most significant.

On February 15, a celestial body collided with the Earth in the vicinity of Chelyabinsk (Russia). The asteroid, according to NASA, weighing 10 thousand tons and with a diameter of 17 meters, entered the atmosphere at a speed of almost 18 km / sec. The asteroid destroyed in the atmosphere left a trace that was visible 200 km from the city. From the bottom of Lake Chebarkul a fragment of a meteorite weighing 650 kg was raised. Such collisions occur no more than once a century.

The cyclone that hit the states of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa in India raised waves up to 3.5 meters and the wind speed reached 200 m / s. A powerful cyclone destroyed nearly 500 thousand hectares, destroyed 17 villages and killed 23 people.

  1. Giant tornado in the city of Moore (USA)514.jpg

Tornado razed the city on May 20 in Oklahoma. It exceeded the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. A devastating two-kilometer-wide tornado claimed the lives of 24 people.

  1. Abnormal heat in Australia414.jpg

Over the entire observation period, January in Australia was the hottest, the temperature record was held on January 18, when the thermometers showed 45.8 degrees Celsius. Abnormal heat caused forest fires that destroyed hundreds of hectares of forest. They spread dangerously quickly and were recognized as one of the most dangerous in the past 30 years.

Just for accuracy. This is true any year unless the world cools. Why? You are talking about an average. If the AVERAGE was higher than previous averages that would be an indication of increase. That may be what you meant to say.

I likely don't agree with all of your conclusions which is normal for humans. We each think differently. I am still including this post in today's @newsagg headlines steemit section which I should be done with an post within the next 30 minutes or so.
