A dramatic weather change is good and bad for Queenslanders .......

in #life5 years ago (edited)

As I listen to the news of the storms and heaving rain night before last night. I felt a great sense of elation for the poor people displaced by the numerous fires in Queensland. Hundreds have been in the town community centres for up to two weeks not knowing whether their homes were still standing.

This has to be good, rain putting the fires out. Prayers had been answered. But all was not completely good, there is a downside to heavy downfalls of rain. I am hearing that the ground is too hard and dry after a long spell of no rain, flooding is likely to occur. I hope this does not take place. The holiday season is coming quickly and we do not need anymore major natural disasters please. The firefighters need to go home for a break.

For the individual who is not affected by the fires or the prospect of floods there is another danger and that is the highway! I am not saying anything new I know, driving on highways is hairy in the wet. Here we were happily motoring along until we had to brake it quickly due to an unexpected long line of stationary trucks and cars. No warning! Thank goodness there were no stack ups.

Unfortunately the reason for this problem was due to one vehicle doing a flip off the road into a ditch. Emergency workers were on the scene. We immediately felt for this driver and passengers if there were any; so easy to slide on a slippery wet road. Hope they are okay.

I managed to get one photo without being too nosey!

Love and blessings guys.

Cheers and thank you for reading and for your support.

Roads after the first rains are the worst! Hope whoever was in that car are okay :S

So true @ryivhnn and so unnerving when tailgated in these conditions too.

Howdy angiemitchell! oh that is such good news that there is some rain to stop the wildfires!
