Drawing Ideological Extinction Parallels

The Ideological Extinction Paradigm

I hate to be a downer, but I always try to keep in mind the potential darker side of technologies. I have been to some meet-ups and tech startup events where I have called out entrepreneurs for the potential hazards their inventions could bring to the world. They always gave me the same look...a look like they hadn't even given thought to that perspective. We need to carry a bit of wisdom when we start our ventures in this space. Dollar signs should never be the main goal.

Elon Musk is not unwarranted in his fear of AI. We are already at the point where Artificial Intelligence has the potential to initiate calculated chaos on a global scale, much like in the video shown below. It could be a religion, a skin color, a type of college student, or even a simple #hashtag that becomes the target of choice. If we do not regulated AI sooner rather than later, we may be in for a rude awakening. A future where our magazine covers have a few trillionaires, while the rest of the world is left to fight over the scraps. Then, in the following moments, the same AI could turn on the creators themselves - A "Ex Machina" like scenario. While I do feel like the world is waking up, the time to respond is closing in on us.

Nah, they're not going to regulate it. The very people that could regulate are the ones that want this technology. Once they have it they will simply ban you from also having it. They will simply put together another law that spans more than 75,000 pages, that they themselves never read before enacting it, and tell you that ignorance of this law is no excuse. Of course they also outlawed robbing banks, but to date, that hasn't stopped a single bank robber. I may have to pick up playing Tennis again.

Interesting stuff. Thanks for posting. Greetings!
