RE: After a week of sobriety I break from the rule for just a few drinks and end up drunk... fast

If you've set yourself the goal to actually be alcohol, just try again. It can be hard to get off something you're addicted to so dont feel bad to fail. As long as you're serious about it, you can do it. All the best!

thanks... I'm not trying to stop drinking alcohol all the way, I just want to drink far less of it. You see, I have this tendency to go to pubs and the pub is the event.. i'm not celebrating anything I'm just going to the pub for the sake of going to the pub. I think this is a bad life choice to make and it is one that I have made for 2 decades already.

the point of the above was to point out that I got drunk really fast after just a little time away from beer :)

ah I see. I totally get what you mean with the "got drunk faster after some time not drinking" which sucks. Personally for me i've been doing that and also gone to the gym so I basically have close to no tolerance to alcohol anymore much to the disappointment of my drinking buddies.

well I think you are facing a more extreme example of what I am going through. Almost all of my friends are my drinking buddies and now that I am trying to not drink so much I don't really have much choice but to not hang out with those people. Maybe I'll get enough self control in the future to hang out and not drink but that time is not now.

Wish you all the best in your endeavor!
