The proper application of knowledge makes life easier and more bearable. Having knowledge isn’t enough; take a smoking doctor for example. He understands the implications of such actions (smoking) on his health but he still goes on with smoking anyhow. It’s like a man that knows how to read but never reads. Someone once said this to me;
he who knows how to read but doesn’t read is no better than he who doesn’t know how to read at all
What we are so concerned with is equipping ourselves with knowledge but never really applying the things we spent so much time and resources learning. Our society has also been wired to operate in this manner; we impress people with how much we know but never bothering to ensure that our knowledge is being applied in the right case.
Our schools have been built on the foundation of rewarding us for our memory and not for our imaginations and how we are able to apply the knowledge we acquired in learning. The labour markets are filled with hundreds of thousands of vibrant young people whose lives have been sharpened by the rigid walls of our educational systems and only a minute fraction of this number will ever get to get a job that will require the exact skills they acquired in learning.
The lack of application makes it quite impossible to appreciate the knowledge available for us to acquire. Too many times have I heard while sitting in a classroom from the mouth of a student that what we learn is totally useless. No one believes that calculus or algebra is what they said it would be. This is because, the labour market doesn’t allocate the ones who possess this knowledge the appropriate jobs that will make them appreciate the beauty of the knowledge they acquired. This is because, the beauty of knowledge is wisdom (application).

PHASE 1:
At this stage, we teach some minnows at our offline classroom to help attain self-sustenance. These minnows will then work with us as a team, reproducing other minnows. Currently, we have just wrapped up with Phase 1. And Phase 2 which is more demanding kicked off already. We have already recorded a track which you’ll find @theminnowschool. We are also in the process of recording a next track but the negotiation is still ongoing.
PHASE 2:
This basically is the core of the vision is to raise steem-backed entrepreneurs of young people. The method through which we execute the absolute idea goes as follows;
- SKILL ACQUISITION PROJECTS: where various skills will be taught to foster the emergence of new entrepreneurs that thrive on voluntarism.
- THE MINNOW SCHOOL TALENT HUNT: we greatly hope to give minnows who are not really writers but have other gifts such as singing, painting, dancing, acting a platform to express themselves and get their creativity beyond their minds. Basically, we are giving these young people a voice and ultimately awaken the writer in them.
- THE MINNOW SCHOOL ART/MUSIC EXHIBITIONS: here talented young people will get to showcase their talents and the value they have to offer to the community. We will be sponsoring art projects and professional music careers will emerge with this.
