MY CHILDHOOD

in #life6 years ago (edited)

The memories of childhood have their own kind of homesickness. As time passes by, one feels more attached to his childhood as being one of the best moments of a man’s life because literally a child has no worries of paying bills and waking up very early in the morning to go for work; that is to say he is free from any kind of duty but only to live a happy being.

When I recall the days of my childhood, I feel very pleased over that wonderful moment which I spent in high spirits. When I was young, I was very stubborn, I used to eat soil and always escaped from home. My mother always scolded me because of my behavior until I grew up and got to know what was right and wrong.

I used to play a lot along the village road and in the maize gardens with other children. It was much forbidden for me to play in the maize garden but I used to go there all the same and always sneaked to go there. To do that I would wait until after lunch when my mother was taking her nap and I would leave the house in pretense that I was going to visit my grandmother. Then I would go to the maize gardens where many young children would be found taking their walk.

I would play with them, we would hunt for rats and grasshoppers. Sometimes we would also hunt for squirrels that always filled me with ecstasy and I would not miss a day without going there except on Sundays because I would go to church with my family.

The most beautiful moments of my childhood are those moments where I went to play with my cousin Simon in the bush. We would look for beautiful flowers and sniff them, we would cross the bushes in the nearby hills where very many snakes and chameleons were found.

To me, the chameleons were wonderful, especially the horned chameleons and I loved the way they changed their color. As soon as we saw a chameleon, we would remove it from the grass where it was and place it on bare ground then would watch it change its color from green to brown which was literally very unbelievable for me.

I remember the day when Simon killed a grasshopper and dropped it next the chameleon which enrolled its long tongue and ate it. We laughed heartily. The charm of childhood cannot be forgotten because these memories have everlasting impression on one’s life and the motto was just to eat, drink, play and sleep.

Thanks for following and best of regards
Blessed day y'all.
