Fake It Until You Are It

in #life5 years ago

Hey My J's,

Here I am, back with your daily dose of banter on the blockchain and today, I want to talk about faking it until you make it.

Somehow we've been able to create a world where we fake a lot of things. I could easily wake up in the morning read my fake news, eat fake food, with my fake friends, go to a fake job and have a fake partner, with fake boobs and fakes orgasms.

It really isn't that hard to encounter fakes in many parts of your lives these days and with the help of social media, we can truly curate the ideal fake moments and project them to the world. We have always been the writers of our own stories yet this is how we choose to write the story, I find it rather fascinating.

Fake it until you make it

Faking it until you make it has always been seen as a way to get what you want out of life, to win over people, influence them, get them behind your cause get them to help you to a common goal where you reap most of the benefits.

We see this in popular culture all the time and its seen as a necessary part of wanting to achieve success when you were not born into a place of opportunity. While I'm not really a fan of this concept, in general, there is evidence that it can work, if you are consistent but it does require as much work and if not more than just trying to do anything that is deemed successful in our world today so I don't really see it as anything wildly out of the ordinary.

The cost of a fake

What I've been looking at is the cost of being fake, the human mind is not designed to be fake and when you do choose to fake something for long enough the perception change eventually becomes your reality. Many people can then get wrapped up in their fakes and lies so much so that they can no longer differentiate themselves from what was true or what they were, to begin with.

For exmaple, you may have feigned interest in a sport or music to appease a friend and now you're actually interested in it. So what if you faked tolerating someone you didn't like and ended up liking them? Where does the truth begin and end? Where does adaptation stop? where do we draw the line? Is there even a line? I feel if you are not true to your values you set out for yourself you will simply adapt to anyone and anything and be rulled by influence and impulse.

Faking something may have cost you more than you bargined for.

Have your say

What do you good people of steem think? Do you fake it? Do you stay away from it?

Holla at me in the comments! All my commenters I will now refer to as Jessie. Jessie is a good friend of mine, but Jessies got a girl, and I want to make her mine.

So have at it my Jessies! If you don't have something to comment, simply comment "I am a Jessie."

Came to realize that we humans love to be lied to. We crave beautiful lies which allow us to keep dreaming, to avoid waking up to the uninspiring reality. Thus "fake it till you make it" becomes a normal response: there is in each of us a deep longing for things that show us what we want to see, even if they are fake. Where's demand, supply will appear.

I like that, where there's demand there's supply. I guess its easier to pretend than to actually go out and do it because if you fail at something you tried your best not many people can handle that.

No one wants to take the hits, they all want this upward tragectory of life but want to avoid all the red candle sticks on the way up
