Say It Before It's Too Late

Modern life often keeps us so busy with distractions we have sold to ourselves as important and requiring our utmost attention. Making decisions all day be it small or big keeps us from focusing on what's important and when it comes to real decisions of meaning, ones that are actually crucial we are so fatigued from making decisions all day that we tend to put off making the real decisions.

Each year we let pass by without taking action we lose things we value and a little bit of ourselves in the process. Procrastination and ego when it comes to big decisions in life are two of my biggest obstacles and when I think I've learned how to handle it the moment im under serious pressure I bulk and fall back into my old ways.

Protection or procrastination

Thinking im smart and protecting myself I will dance around the topic or find ways to keep busy or distracted to avoid considering things or making those tough decisions thinking im shielding myself from it when in actual fact im setting myself up for disaster and working against myself.

Hard to see it when you're in it

The problem with taking too long is you often don't see it when you're in it, you need someone to spur you on, to let you know, to remind you, to give you an outside view of what you're doing. This is why it is important to communicate, to as open and honest as you can be, check your ego at the door and lay the facts out on the table.

That way you can allow people you trust to give you their opinions or the two of you can make a decision together with all the facts out in the open.

You can always try something and make a mistake and learn from it, then repeat your old habits and never learn from them. Yes, choosing between the fear of the unknown and the pain of what you know (regret) sometimes we tend to opt for what we have experienced since we know what its all about but is that really the right way to go about it?

Don't wait till its too late

If something or someone is really important to you don't wait a second too long, rather take the leap of faith. Open yourself up to failure, yes it is a big risk, yes you could get hurt, but rather that then living with the regret of never knowing what it would be like if you did.

Every situation is different of course and sometimes you are too late, other times you can get one more chance but I would encourage you to avoid those options and take the first opportunity or as soon as possible. It's going to be uncomfortable and new and scary but if it really means that much to you, the pay off will be worth it all.
