Another major trait is Gaslighting, constantly making up things or denying things that happened to the point where it becomes hard to trust yourself. Unfortunately I spent a long time in a relationship with someone who did this constantly. It got to the point where I had to start keeping notes to keep things straight, which is retrospect is an insane choice to make over just ending the relationship. Sometimes you really love an person who is abusive and thing you can help them, when in reality they probably aren't going to change as long as they can get away with their terrible behavior.
