Perseverance vs a codeine diet

Simple word really.

Not everyone is willing to put in the required amount of work that success dictates.

Granted, some people may be busy with other things, but in all aspect of life, perseverance is needed.

Due to my profession in the entertainment industry, I have seen on countless occasions how lazy and how crazy many people think.

This post is really about my grudge with nigerian artists, musicians and their twisted assumptions about success, yet not putting in any work, preferring the taste of le codeine.

I once knew an artist in 2016 who was all hyped about music, saying he would blow(nigerian slang for being successful).

The funny part is, he wasnt really putting any work into his hustle so to speak.

He had a fairly good voice and we recorded a couple of songs together, even contemplated an album and successfully recorded a few songs..

But the truth remained that he was influenced by codeine, needing his daily fix, the idea of success in his mind revolved around having laege amount of cash to spend, to drive a good car and to generally "pick up bitches" as he would say.

Long story short, his desire for success went only so far as getting some drugs, loading his body with it and going onto dream land to dream up some fantasy, then wake me up early in the morning saying he had a great idea for a song and "he must blow".

So why then is the post titled perseverance?

Well, he couldn't handle the stress or rather he couldn't handle the fact that success wasnt a walk in the park.

This I have come to realize and unfortunately a lot of people do not.

No matter what youre doing, youre gonna face obstacles, youre going to be struck down more than once.

Success isnt a straight line, its bent and all crazy.

If you do not have the will to persevere and the tenacity to be someone great, youll end up falling when push comes to shove.

I failed a lot in school, both academically and in terms of hustle, I and a friend once ran a movie night in school, only to have the power cut midway through the movie and not come back till about 20mins time, the hall was almost empty.

It wasnt a raging success, but we did complete the movie showing and gained all sort of experience from it.

Failure brings success, for if one does not fail, he/she doesn't know the route which is right or wrong.

Experience, failure, persistence, perseverance, all sum up the tools we need to scale up that high mountain.

I have seen people persevere and end up succeeding, I read people stories and have witnessed them, even right here on steemit and the crypto scene at large.

So persevere mbok.

Thanks.

Straight to the point without any story.
