Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder - E.B White

If you're following the tales of my Adventure Adelaide Series, you would have seen I mentioned Skye lookout near my home. Well, in fact, there are quite a few gems in the area. They call Adelaide the 30 minute city, meaning you can basically get anywhere within 30 minutes. From the hills to the beaches, we can see it all in a blink of an eye. I've shortened this even more and will show you lovely Steemians the top views, within 10 minutes driving distance from my home. Brace yourselves as we delve into the lovely views of Adelaide.

1. Skye Lookout

Skye Lookout is a wonderful, quiet location situated at the top of Skye. The steep road up brings you to an open, flat space where you can park anywhere and enjoy the view. I wouldn't recommend walking up, unless you're into suffering!

Little spot on the side of the road on the way up to the lookout.

2. Kensington Lookout

This lookout is neighbouring the previous lookout. You can access the back of this lookout from Skye or come up to the front from the bottom of another road. This lookout has minimal parking and is a little more 'mainstream'. It has an open area to observe with a few rock walls and benches. Walk up a little from that area and you can get an even better view which is where I've taken my picture.

3. Sunnyside

sunnyside.jpg

There is a road called Sunnyside Rd that my dad built a house on about 20 years ago. The house still stands and I've found myself a little place to view the Adelaide skyline. There is a small cutout off the cliff which allows for about two car spaces. If you're lucky, you can stop and take a moment to enjoy this view. Also, the hole in front of me is currently for sale. Crazy engineers/architects HMU! haha

4. Oceanview

Oceanview.jpg

A little further up from Sunnyside, we find ourselves on Oceanview Dr. This little street in Mt Osmond has another breathtaking view. Again, limited road parking, so you have to be lucky. Although I like trees, this one really gets in the way of a full view. Nevertheless, still a great spot to take a moment and enjoy the view.

5. Mt Osmond Lookout

I've been searching for this spot for a while now, there is no road access, but only a trail that gets you to the amazing view. Whilst going to all the other lookouts I stopped to check a message when I think I found what I was looking for.

She was calling me!

I left my car where it is and endured the trek. Sure enough, I found myself standing ontop of the world, with an amazing view of the entire city. Wish I had a better camera (taken on iPhone) but have a look at this!

Even took a cheeky selfie with a fly :')

It's funny because there are many more spots to enjoy views of the city, even within the ones mapped out. We'll just have to save them for another day!

I wanted to get your thoughts what do you do at a lookout? Do you take the time to relax and watch the world go by? Or does this spark deep thinking? Do you feel the connection to your cities development? How we all operate under the system? Are we controlled from further above? I could sit at a lookout for hours talking about governance, control, economy, power, it's probably how most of us ended up on the Steemit platform thus far...

I want you all to take three deep breaths. Re-align with yourself, before you carry on with your day. Take some time out to self-reflect and meditate, even if it's only for a minute. Take control of your body, own yourself. Be aligned, and have a wonderful day <3

I have walked up the Skye climb. Yes, it's for sadists. Driving up is so much better. That and the Kensington lookout were regulars in my teen years. Watching the world go by is certainly one of the things we'd do up at them.

Adelaide has so many really good lookouts. I really should put a list together to take my partner to to show of the city from one of the better angles while we're over at Christmas time.

I went half way up Skye with my doggo. Still had an amazing view from where I stopped, but don't think I'll go all the way up.

It really does! Don't forget to chuck down Windy Point on your list. That's the cherry on the icing :P

Yeah, that's the big name lookout for sure. Not my favourite, possibly because of all the people, but it's certainly on the list to visit

I like to go to the restaurant carpark which is just above the main lookout carpark. Usually quieter and there's a nice bench at the end for a little romantic sit and view :)

I haven't been to many lookouts, but those are some great views mate! If I am ever around that spot I will have to check some out.

Definitely a lot of good spots around to enjoy, a lot more further out in all directions too.

yeah i'm fortunate to have them so close to home. But that's what you get when you give up the beach front lifestyle!

Yeah I can't wait to go visit some more great wonders our beautiful state has to offer!

Yeah I live down south by the beach, but there are still plenty of great views, so it's not all that bad anyway. :)

Ah Adelaide! Mate, you should edit this and get it on steemit worldmap.
