There are so many emotionally insensitive people who lacks the intelligence, tact and maturity to recognize how to use compliments, where to use it and whom to use it for.

Compliment is like an attire, each is made for each occasion and personality. You must be quiet savvy at knowing when the occasion is right and/when the atmosphere will accommodate it.

Do not live in a liberal assumption while neglecting the temperament of your environment. Be very sure that your circle sync with your 'wokeness'. If not, no matter how harmless your compliment is, you shall be wrong.

I've worked for a beautifully detailed boss that I loved to compliment always in a formal setting and I always know how to fax my compliment non verbally without destroying the syntax of my message and the culture of my workplace. She always got it.

Interviews in this part of the world is what it is, you were born here, don't form ignorance. Secondly, words weigh differently. If you must compliment, check your tone, consider something mild and non personal as much as possible.
