The word conflict resolution has to do with employing all or every known strategies to ensure that a conflicted person or a conflicted atmosphere is filled with peace.

Before going too deep in this topic let's define the key word in this i.e conflict, resolution, conflict resolution and team work.

Conflict :
This can be seen as struggle for power, position, money class , etc.
It can also be a strong disagreement between two people or group of people etc., that results in often angry argument and might lead to violence if not resolved

As well it is also a difference that disallows agreement (disagreement between ideas, feelings, etc)

Resolution :

This can be said to be the act of finding a solution or answer to a conflict, problem, issue disagreement. In summary resolution simply means the act of harmonizing a society faced with problem of misunderstanding, internal crisis, etc to live in peace again.

Team work
Talking about team work here, we actually talking about the success attained as a result of numbers of people coming together with a single goal, though, sometimes with different opinion, ideas, strategy etc but with a single aim of achieving a common goal and of course team spirit is the secret.



    Causes of conflict in a team

  1. Individual differences
  2. Lack of good communication
  3. Lack of discipline
  4. Ego among members
  5. Selfishness
  6. Nepotism
  7. Lawlessness
  8. Carelessness
  9. Lack of good leadership
  10. Administrative errors


Looking at how to minimize or eradicate conflict in a team we will have to make mention of some points like:

  • There should be effective and efficient communication and communication channel the team members.
  • Nepotism should as well be minimized, if not totally eradicated in the affairs of the team.
  • Team spirit should be embraced.

  • Every individual involved should see themselves claiming the glory when the success comes.

  • Everybody's opinion should be respected.

  • There should be freedom of expression and no ones idea should be shunned.

  • A team leader is expected to work with other and carry them along and not to be their boss.

  • A level of value should be attached to all individual in the team.

  • A round peg should always be put in a round hole, at least to curb unnecessary favouritism which may lead to some of the team displeased or rebel again the team administration.

  • fair hearing is advisable to be in place.

  • It should be noted that in teamwork, no one is less important, why is because when the glory comes the claim it as a team and also if the other way round the team will take the shame for failing e.g in soccer or football match when a particular team plays against each other, the winning team claims the glory and not a particular or most skillful player in the team and vice versa.

When a team has already been affected by conflict, some strategy needs to be employed. And among such are:

  • Identification of effective and efficient medium and channel of communication.

  • Identifying the affected persons in the conflict.

  • Identifying the cause.

  • Listening to everyone's opinion in order to ensure there is a freedom of expression. Every team member should feel they are important and carried along.

  • Strategizing on how to harmonize the team.

  • Having motivating factors in place for the team.

  • Reminding the entire members that they are part of the team, either it leads to success or failure.



Conflict resolution, is actually talking about employing the significant tools needed or required to ensure peace and harmony is restored back to the atmosphere filled with crisis, clash of opinions and the likes. One key factor to be noted in conflict resolution is communication and when conflict is not well managed with good communication it could lead to violence and this will cause a lot of damage on the team.

I have seen more causes f conflict.
I observed something amongst my team member in my environment and I believe it causes conflict also and that is MISINTERPRETED INFORMATION.
People tend to misinterpret the information you are passing failing to understand that one was only speaking from his own point of view.
And a way to resolve conflict I learnt in a movie is through a DANCE OFF...

This is a very good piece, i must say.

But i, as usually, object to CONFLICT RESOLUTION. Be it intrapersonal, Interpersonal, intragroup, intergroup etc.

Conflict is not the absence of war, quarrels or physical attacks. Conflict starts with differences which is underwise known as the latent stage of conflict, where the party or parties invloved are not even aware they are in conflict.

As mentioned by the author of this piece, one of the causes of conflict is individual differences? . Sometimes , difference play out unintentionally.

However, Conflict can only be managed and not resolved. As much as I'd love to elaborate, this is only but a comment section.

Am happy a post of this kind is from @euronation....And i hope all members of euronation read this and clear the indifference between them...Most people has chosen some set of people to relate with and see no reason to relate with others because they have no Steem power that can benefit them..so why making friends with them.
