And So the Long Road to Recovery Begins...

in #life5 years ago

As with any half decent soap opera out there, viewers will be glued to their seats, in eager anticipation over how the next episode pans out. And here at Steemit, we're actually "living"the drama out in real time. After the bombshell dropped, most must know by now that Ned and Andrew are to hold a live webinar tonight, in which many the questions raised over the last day or so, should be answered. I'm hoping for this to be an open and transparent session where the community have, at least, enough information to go on in regards to possible bridges being built from here on in. As far as I'm concerned, it all starts here...

Emotions are running high and many of us are pretty tense over how we are to fathom a way out of this mess. I mean, the crypto tabloids are having a field day of crapping over the name of Steemit after the announcement. Still, it's not like all the other coins and development projects out there aren't also feeling the pinch. Various chat channels and website forums contain more than enough written proof of that! In the world of crypto, there's nowhere to run expect back to the original source of fiat. Even I, one of the stanchest advocates of Steemit, was reeling with shock yesterday but as with all things, time proves the ultimate healer. It's no use looking back or pointing fingers. Let's try to move forward and get out of this sinkhole in one piece.

So, for this to happen, communication is key. Please Ned and Andrew, let's make this webinar real, "all cards on the table" like. The one positive thing that I've taken away from this is the response from the community. If any anger and frustration was felt, hands up that would've been on my shoulders. But given some time to reflect, those negative feelings only propagate destructive non-productivity and FUD. In other words, the last thing we need right now. The rally call has been sent out and most messages and posts I've come across have been almost universally supportive. Like I've been saying from the get go. There is no competition between users on Steemit. The platform falls, we all fall. Simple as. So I'm actually taking some of my own medicine this time around and also looking forward to some sort of agreed resolution to all this.

As is now common knowledge, many power ups took place whilst the price was (and is) low. Myself included. That means, should we get that relief rally at some point, they'll be many more Steemians positioned better to assist if need be. I mean, it's so odd that Steemit Inc. are having financial woes when the platform they have been supporting all this time, is a financial tool in of itself. I mean, votes translate to money, am I right? But be that as it may, the impact of having a more distributed balance of Steem among us equates to more options on the table for possible future aid. If we're provided with a fuller detailed picture of factors like running costs, overhead expenses as well as maintenance and developmental operations, the community seem to be more than willing to lend a helping hand. I assume tomorrow we'll know much more than today in regards to the situation as a whole, so let's see how the webinar unfolds and work out the best way to proceed from here.

Power is in numbers and that's certainly what this platform has in abundance. So let's rise up to the challenge and dig ourselves out of this bullshit ditch. It ain't over yet. Not by a long shot.
