Daily Thoughts - 08 May 18 - Homesteading Today...

Good morning, Steemians! :D

It’s a gorgeous morning out there. Not too cool, not too warm, no bugs yet, and sunshine to boot, just perfect. :D Candy (1), Princess (2), Joker (3) and Buddy (4) have figured out that if they “moo” loud as we’re walking over to the barn to do the milking the odds of them getting their breakfast hay sooner increases. LOL. :D

Junior (1), Pinky (2) and Lil’ Miss enjoying their breakfast feed, oatmeal and the milk we added to it. :D

We separated Belle (pictured above) and Leroy (pictured below) for a bit today, just to see how Belle would handle it, and at first, she was happy for the time with the rest of the herd, but after about an hour she started searching for Leroy, so I got my son to help me move them into the pen beside the piglets again for the rest of the day. This made Belle and Leroy very happy. :D I just wish we could have done it without me slipping and Belle stepping on my toes. It would really save me on bruises. :D LOL. :D

Belle has gotten used to being milked now I think, she doesn’t kick anymore and only moves when she’s trying to get more oats or hay. :D She even let me put the bag balm on her today without trying to kick me, YAY! :D

Belle (1) has figured out that we didn’t bring Leroy over to the big pasture, but Candy (2) and Princess (3) tried to convince her it was fine. She let them convince her for a bit, but after a while she started pushing on the gate to get out and find him, so we had to move her up to the pen beside the piglets to be with him. :D

Princess (1), Candy (2), Joker (3), and Buddy (4) weren’t happy when we separated Belle from them to bring her to the other pen. :D

Lil’ Miss (1), Pinky (2), and Junior (3) coming over to see me as I’m heading to put the bag balm on Belle. :D

Belle keeping herself between Leroy and the piglets pen, in case the piglets come too close. :D She doesn’t like the amount of noise the piglets make when I come by, they are always looking for attention and/or food. :D

Our handsome boys Buddy (1), and Joker (2) cleaning up a bit of the chafe I dropped off for them after I’d finished putting the bag balm on Belle. :D Princess didn’t realize there was chafe right away because she was busy grazing, but once she figured it out she was right there. :D They all love the chafe so much. :D

Candy didn’t realize there was chafe there to be eaten right away either she just kept grazing, right up until I came over with the second scoop of chafe. :D

Pinky didn’t believe the other piglets when they said I hadn’t brought any treats out there for them either. :D He knows me too well and knows I bring them something for a treat each morning and each evening. :D I kind of spoil the piglets, of course, I also spoil our other animals too. :D That’s what grandmas are supposed to do, spoil their grand-babies, whether they are two or four-legged right, LOL. :D

Since we’ve got more milk than we can drink, we’ve decided to make some butter. My wonderful husband is going to work on the butter while I work on my post. :D
