Keeping Up to Your Standards

in #life5 years ago

Yesterday evening we've been out with a couple of family friends to have dinner and fun in a little place we discovered in town a while ago.

This place had been great in our opinion, from the quality of ambiance to food and service (the owner herself came to every table to see if everything is fine). And the prices were unbelievably low (hmm!).

Fast forward to yesterday, which is the first time I went there in a few months. We were the only customers in the place when we arrived, but a few others followed later. Whereas during the summer it was difficult to find a free table during the weekend. Who knows, maybe it's just because of the different season. But...

Everything we ordered (except beer probably), had something we could complain about compared to our great memories of it from a few months back. The same waitress was kinda sour too now. Maybe the fact that the owner seemed not to be there had something to do with it.

To be honest, I thought this is probably what will happen when I saw the prices the first time. It didn't seem possible to sustain their business model on the long term with those prices.

The quality already seems to have dropped significantly. If they don't adjust something soon (although it can be a little late), I don't see their business well.

That is true for any business.

Don't create standards you can't operate to!

Don't create expectations you can't meet!

If possible, guarantee lower standards and over-deliver! That will make your customer happy, every single time.
