"Archangel Michael"

ETYMOLOGY-ΕΤΥΜΟΛΟΓΙΑ

Let's start with the meaning of his name. Michael means the warrior of light and it's coming from the Hellenic(Greek) words ΜΑΧΑ-ΕΛ which means μαχητής(ΜΑΧΑ) του φωτός(ΕΛ). By the years the name became ΜΙΧΑ-ΗΛ and in english Micha-el.

Acording to the Holy Book , Michael is the only one who has the title : "Archanghel". This is also a Hellenic word : "ΑΡΧ-ΑΓΓΕΛΟΣ" which means "ΑΡΧΩΝ ΤΩΝ ΑΓΓΕΛΩΝ_LORD OF ANGELS".

Michael is an archangel in in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam . In orthodox church he is also called "ΤΑΞΙΑΡΧΗΣ-TAXIARCHES'' as he is believed to be the leader of the angels' brigade(ταξιαρχία).

INFORMATION-ΠΛΗΡΟΦΟΡΙΕΣ

According to Hebrew scriptures(old testament) , he was the one to anounce Isaac that he had to sacrifice his son and later prevent him from doing it. It is also said the he led the people of Israel from escaping Egypt.
In the new testament book(revelation book (12, 7-9)) , Archangel Michael led God's forces(angels) against Satan's forces (also called : Great Dragon-Μεγάλος Δράκωντας, Ancient Snake-Αρχαίος όφυς) also angels(renegades) that believed and followed him , in a great war that took place in heaven and Archangel Michael defeated Satan throwing him on Earth along with his renegade angels.
Unfortunately for us ,ever since, Satan is trying to "lead the whole world astray".

In the Quran , along with Michael(Sura 2:98), Jibrail(Gabriel) is also mentioned as Archangel.

In Hellas , Archangel Michael is considerd protector of the Hellenic Air Force and his name is celebraed today !
