Adjust Your Aim

I was thinking earlier about the phrase 'aiming high'. It's an interesting choice of words, when you think about it, especially since everyone seems to think there's only one point of comparison - aiming on a medium scale. Everyone who doesn't aim high in this world does average.

But no, it doesn't work like that. If you don't aim high, you aim low. And now, how does that sound?
People like to think that nothing bad will happen to them, that they can exist within their murky fucking beige world and it will all be alright. Nobody will call them out on it. And that's true. Nobody will call you out on it. Why? Because nobody cares. Not enough to bother calling you out on something, anyway. So as far as everyone else is concerned, you can go on not pushing yourself to the limit, not aiming high. Remember, that's what we call aiming low.

There is no medium level. That is already low. So no, if you don't try as hard as you can, nothing bad will happen to you. Probably not anyway. But you can't expect great things to happen if you don't aim for them. If you shoot high, then your arrow might fall a little lower than its intended target. But if you shoot low, your arrow will never ever magically get higher by itself. Excellent can sometimes turn to just good. But mediocre will never turn to best.

There are so many people in this world who aim low all their life and then wonder why nothing ever happens for them, why they don't have the life they dream of. Well, because you're not aiming for dreams, you're aiming for dust. Quite different, wouldn't you say?

But the good thing is, you don't have to concern yourself about such people. Nor do I. See, that's the thing, nobody can get things for you. There are places only you can go. That's just how it is. Stop expecting someone else to turn up and pull you out of the gutter, to push you towards the stars. Because nobody has that kind of force.

Yes but aiming high for the things you want in life will pay off in the end. The fact is that most of the time is not easy to aim high when society does aim to level all up. Is more convenient for the world out there if you are happy with whatever there is on the table than if you are starving for your ideas. The whole point is that if you aim low you are easy to be controlled :)

Exactly :) And besides, if you aim low, the chances are much smaller that you fail. And nobody wants to fail, even if it means they grow.
