A New Beginning after Death Came Knocking

With gratefulness and thankfulness these past four months, the whole family was shaken to the core and very much subdued, more so after my mom came home from the hospital after more than a month stay, floating in and out of the ìntensive care unit. Words were difficult to express our hopelessness, our despair, our uncertainties and indecisions...my mom's will to live in the end made the decision for us, even when death came knocking. Making it through, we took her home and did not look back. Whatever happened after that, we fought in giving her what we thought will answer her physical needs, machines and oxygen tanks were all provided, my room becoming her hospital space, until now. Any discharge plans and follow-up were not followed to a T as I decided against all of it, doctors' recommendations I thought were not right for her. One thing to mention here though is her daily brew of herbs i foraged from the backyard, her ionised silver i make from her proton generator, a gift all the way from California. These past months we thought will either make her or break her, and thank God, she's stronger than ever. We saw her transition as days go by, her interest to her surroundings increasing on the first couple of months. Although very much dependent because of her stroke, we remain vigilant for her to not develop any pneumonia from her NG feeding and immobility. In this regard, we are winning in looking after her, a daily semblance of a quality life that we try to provide with her condition.

How precious is to see my mom smile when seeing her other one-year old great grandson, giving him a kiss when we bring him to her and grinning when she saw him try his baby-steps? These moments are like no other, touching my heart each time. More often than not, she gets mad at me for her exercises but i do get my share of infrequent smiles. That'll do.

Going back to the hospital today to visit my niece who gave birth yesterday, the above view did not fail to touch me. For long ago, it gave me comfort, becoming a friend in the midst of a storm, a very reliable presence all throughout my mom's ordeal. Looking out from my niece's window, all i could say was

"hello!"

Yesterday, a healthy 2.8kg baby girl was added to our family. For some reason or another, I can't seem to upload images with close-up shots of people. @teodora, you and my baby niece have the same birthday!
