RE: WHY WON'T THEY LEAVE HER ALONE? - DESPERATE MEASURES

in #life5 years ago

We have started using Neem Oil this year and it has helped us greatly. We mix 1 oz 100% neem oil (cold pressed) , 1 oz Dawn dish liquid and 1 gallon water. I spray this directly on the leaves of the plants once a week. I still see grasshoppers and bugs but they are eating so much less and somehow they move much slower so I can catch them much easier. Supposedly, the neem oil makes them forget to eat and procreate. We purchased ours on e-Bay. I did read that you have to start spraying the plants before the bugs really get going, so perhaps it might be too late for you this year, but I would still give it a try.

It is so frustrating to get a plant going and come back and find it half eaten or dead.

Wikipedia says "Neem oil is a vegetable oil pressed from the fruits and seeds of the neem, an evergreen tree which is endemic to the Indian subcontinent and has been introduced to many other areas in the tropics. It is the most important of the commercially available products of neem for organic farming and medicines."
