Sleepaway Camp 3. Sleepaway with a vengeance.

The other day I saw the movie Sleepaway Camp. I found it to be incredibly boring with the exception of the last 15 minutes which were just awesome.

Even though I mostly disliked the first one, immediately looked for the second Sleepaway Camp and found it.

It is probably the best slasher movie that I've ever seen.

What a difference from the first one.

There appeared to be four of them. Three original ones and a movie that is apparently just full of flashbacks.

I watched and reviewed the second one and, as stated earlier, it is an incredible movie. I then watch the third one. How does it fare to the first two?

Fortunately, Sleepaway Camp 3: Teenage Wasteland is much more similar to the second movie than the first one. That is to say it is a really great slasher flick.

The second movie starred Bruce Springsteen's sister Pamela. The third movie also stars her which is great because she is actually a really good actress.

The first movie hardly had any killings, and hardly had anything interesting happening at all. However, second movie changed all that by introducing tons of killing, quite a bit of nudity, and a whole lot of typical what you're looking for when you watch a slasher flick.

The third movie does not waste any time getting into the ball game by introducing a very violent killing within the first 5 minutes or so.

Now keep in mind it is all very campy. These slasher flicks are not meant to scare you necessarily, they are really meant for you to sit back and laugh while thinking how silly that they are.

Every now and then though they will get you with a good jump scare and that is a great thing.

At the end of the first movie, the killer is apparently taken away.... but we don't know because they don't go into it very much. At the end of the second movie she has escaped and is in charge of a camp that is near where the first camp was.

Uh oh. Don't put a killer in charge.

In the third movie she immediately assumes the identity of one of the kids that are supposed to go to the third camp.

Everything fits into place and everything is very similar to the second movie. However, this movie tries to do to a few different concepts and I have to say that they do work even though the budget certainly feels lower than the second one and therefore reduces the quality of this movie a little bit.

Having said that, this is still a really good slasher flick. If you are looking for a campy slasher flick and you don't know where to go and you've already seen the second Sleepaway Camp you certainly can't go wrong with the third one.
