Sleepaway Camp - The last 15 minutes makes the movie.

I really like a good science fiction or horror movie. I tend to write both of those genres, and they are my very favorite things to both read and watch.

Unfortunately, there are really only a few excellent movies in those genres but there are an absolute truckload of terrible movies.

Enter Sleepaway Camp.

You can tell right away just for looking at the cover that this is a slasher flick.

Slasher flicks are not always scary, though there is generally a good attempt at a few different jumps here and there. Sometimes though they are simply cheesy and ridiculous.

Sleepaway Camp is the tale of a boy and girl who go away to summer camp when suddenly people start being killed in really dumb ways.

You don't know who the killer is until the end of the movie.

To tell you the truth, Sleepaway Camp is really boring most of the time.

Although this movie came out of 1983 all of the campers are clearly meant to be from the seventies. We are looking at seventies hairdos, and seventies clothes but none of the seventies fun mentality.

It should also be noted that although this is one of those cheesy slasher flicks, there is absolutely no nudity..... which is really strange. I say no nudity but there actually is some male nudity.

In fact, there is a skinny dipping scene where the guys decide to go skinny dipping but none of the girls join them. What the heck is up with that?

So what we're looking at here is a really boring movie in which nothing interesting happens. There are no characters that particularly stand out, and no very interesting scenes. Not even any nudity or anything that can make someone say hey this particular part is really worth watching.

However, all of that changes in the last 15 minutes. The last 15 minutes of the movie really are great.

If you are interested in a good horror movie and you are willing to stick it out, then I say Sleepaway Camp is a great flick.

It is actually a boring movie for most of the time. However, the last 15 minutes does make the movie and in fact I already have Sleepaway Camp 2 queued up now just because of those last 15 minutes.
