The Beautiful Ko Phi Phi Le, Thailand - Photo Journal #2

Hello my fellow Steemians!

It's time for my second Photo Journal post! This time I'm taking you guys with me to the island of Ko Phi Phi Le in Thailand!

Above is a photo of the incredibly gorgeous Maya Bay. This is one of the two bays on Ko Phi Phi Le (Phi Phi Le is the south island, Phi Phi Don is the north island). I was here with two of my friends from Australia, Kate and Brendon. I met Kate online in a really fun way that I'll fill you guys in on in a second. But on this day we had bought tickets to go on a tour boat that took us around to all the beautiful spots of Ko Phi Phi Le, for only 500 Baht! (roughly $15 USD). The tour lasted for about 7 hours and came with a meal on the boat as well!

Fun fact: This is the bay featured in Leonardo DiCaprio's movie: The Beach! :D

Here's a photo of me with Kate and Brendon. Kate has been my friend for over five years, and I just met Brendon on this trip, who is Kate's boyfriend. So I originally met Kate on the website chatroulette, which is pretty hilarious. I was up late reading one night and decided to pop onto chatroulette because I was bored. I think Kate popped up on my screen as like the second matched person for me, and we hit it off as friends and had a great conversation. We added each other on social media and have continued talking since! Over 5 years later, we've met up in NYC, Thailand and Australia. I'm proud to be her friend!

Fun fact: You can indeed have female friends and not want to bone them! :P

It was so amazing going around Phi Phi Le and getting to see the island from all sides. The water was a beautiful turquoise blue and it felt so good to jump into. We went snorkeling and kayaking in the other bay, Pileh Lagoon. I managed to kick some coral really hard which sliced the top of my foot open, which lead to an infection where I could barely walk a week later when I was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but that's another story. xD

Fun fact: The locals will climb the cliffs of Phi Phi Le and gather bird nests to eat them, which is apparently supposed to give them youth and keep them alive longer. :O

This is a photo of one of our guides. They were all super nice and made us all feel comfortable on their boat. There was an issue with a passenger who got mad that there wasn't enough kayaks for everyone to use one at once, but the gentleman here handled the situation nicely and got the upset passenger to calm down and accept that he just had to wait his turn. xD It was a pleasure getting to talk to the local guides who were very knowledgeable and full of laughter.

Our tour started around 10am and we got back around 5:30pm or so. It was a beautiful sunset on the Andaman Sea as we zoomed back to the northern island Ko Phi Phi Don. Phi Phi Don is where all the tourists stay and where the town is. Ko Phi Phi is a pretty expensive island to be honest, at least in comparison to some of the other Thai islands. I would definitely recommend going, but not to stay more than a couple nights and continue on to some of the other destinations. :)

This wraps up my second Photo Journal post. I'm having a blast making these and look forward to sharing more of the places I've visited with you all through this series.
