A Powerful Wireless Communication - At Our Finger Tips!

When we look at topics of conversation we notice how easily we converse about issues in the world, life hacks, education, children, state of the world and everything else.

We would be less inclined to talk about our feelings, our struggles, and our fears. Fair enough, we find very close confidants in these delicate areas.

What about another topic which unfortunately seems to have become quite taboo - God, Divinity, Spirituality? It seems these are topics that are meant only for the social circles in which we have like minded people.

Some would say, oh, I don't want to get into religious contexts that may cause disagreements. Or perhaps, these social circles may exist within religious groups.

Firstly, I am not talking about religion. Though I grew up in a Hindu household I had great affinity towards Jesus and Mohammad. In my mind it did not register that God was different. Just that we all had our own beautiful way of communicating.

In fact, God was never a person in my mind. Simply a beautiful swirl of energy that wove through everything in the Universe.

So, a long story short, this is not a religious conversation. No, it is far more intimate than that. It is a conversation of the soul. One that starts at the doorway of the heart.

I stay away from the term Spirituality as well. Because we have created so many ideas around spirituality. Meditation, zen talk, living in communities that sing and dance all day, etc etc. I think we all have some stereotypes or the other, so I'll let you fill in the gaps on the "etc." section there.

I'm talking about that intimate moment when we fall to our knees as our heart breaks open as it is ripped and shattered to a million pieces. I am talking about the intimacy we feel when our love for a child, partner, pet or another being is so deep it stirs and shifts us at the very core of our being. I'm talking about the miracles that take place with our faith at the helm. I'm talking about HOW THIS PERVADES through ALL RELIGION, SOCIAL CLASS, ECONOMIC STATUS and GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION.

Yes, what I'm trying to say is, our relationship with the Divine is universal. Our relationship with our Creator is absolutely inevitable. Whether we actively pursue this connection or not, it is, has always been and will continue to exist.

I am not DEFINING divinity. I am not denying it. I am not justifying it. I am simply talking about experiencing it - in our day to day life.

I have had two close calls in the car. In one I let go of the wheel and surrendered. The other, I saw the choices in front of me and trusted that whatever comes I could trust in the source that I had such confidence in. Both times I came out unscathed. Then there were times I didn't even realise I was being taken care of, delays, close shaves, and situations that force me to take notice of something that was about to fall apart in the car.

That was just a portion of my life - driving. There are many situations in our lives, financially, in relationships, at work, and everything in between where we notice synchronicity. Luck. Serendipity. I have another word for these things - MIRACLE, GIFTS, DIVINE GRACE.

Sure the labels are different, but the experiences are not. The thing is, when we sit down for a conversation - we often steer towards what is current in the news, in the country, in our work space. Often these are conversations looking at a problem. What is wrong and looking at ways to fix it.

If we took the portion of the day and put it in just 1 hour of active talking and thinking, it is safe to say that 57 mins of that 60 mins would be on looking, seeing, talking and discussing what is to be fixed, what is not working, what can be better. This is a gentle estimate, as for most it is 65 mins of this or more ;)

Why do we not spend more time and effort appreciating all that is wonderful and good. Praising the miracles in our lives. Why are we afraid of sharing miracles? Fear of belittlement? Fear of judgement? Fear of ridicule?

Ok, let's drop the terminology. Can we not neutrally observe how joyful it felt to get a parking spot just outside as we came for a meeting. How wonderfully clear traffic was. How a stranger had the most beautiful smile and that wonderful moment of human connectedness we felt.

Whether we like to admit it or not, we have all led very blessed lives. Yes, even you who had that crappiest of childhoods. In a recent conversation someone said to me, "Oh it must be so easy for you to be like this, you must have had a beautiful childhood". I laughed and thought, hmmmm as a matter of fact, I am this way because I DIDN'T have a wonderful childhood. It was during those times that I turned to the Divine, my source of comfort and inspiration. To seek understanding and forgiveness.

It was such a strong resolve, that soon I was blessed with a real life teacher who brought me back to life by taking all the broken pieces of my heart and put it together in such a way that it's capacity increased by a thousand fold and pumped at a million voltages more!

Not all are so blessed perhaps? Not true. We all are. In our own way we have the kind of support and guidance we need everyday. I have walked down the street and had a stranger stop me and say, "Stop swinging your handbag like that". Yeah, it was a great reminder to be aware of my surroundings. I have had so many friends support me, lifting my spirits up. I've had help even in the most remote of places where I didn't think humans even dwelled.

We are constantly communing with Divine Love, Divine Grace. Or would it sound better if I said, we are constantly in a state of abundance. Or would it sound more palatable if I said we are innately creatures of altruistic nature - hence given the opportunity we act in ways that will always help and support our fellow humans. Or the new age term now, where we put our energy and focus in, is where we find most of our outcomes and returns.

Whatever the lingo is, it is undeniable. We don't all have to strip naked and declare our love at the top of the mountains. But we can all take a minute, several times a day, noticing, being in gratitude, speaking with gratitude, appreciate our gifts, share these gifts (sharing realisations and talking about it is a form of sharing too).

So, let's not just leave it to Neal Donald Walsh to have Conversations with God. Let us have our daily communion. Our daily chats through a wireless connection - right here at the doorstep of our hearts.

With much love, gratitude and appreciation of all that we have within us - Namaste!
