A lot of people put in the hard work to create powerful contents which they feel should pull the crowd and catch the attention of many to comment and upvote their content, but they soon discover 24 hours after the content was posted that only one or two people have made a comment and in the worst case scenario nobody made a commented and when you check your upvote rewards it is similar to the comment situation.

Some people fail to realize that Steemit is a social media platform, whether you’re accessing it through the various mobile applications like @partiko, @actifit, @esteem or @wherein or through other web based platforms like @busy or @steempeak and others it all doesn’t matter. You must first ask yourself “What do you do on social media platforms?” Yes, you got it, you socialize. And that is where a lot of us are getting it wrong. It doesn’t matter how many SP you’ve bought for yourself so that you can be self-voting your post and comments to make you grow, been isolated doesn’t really work or help your case, to be more successful you need to socialize and let the people do the commenting and upvoting for you.

Why Are Comments Important In Your Post?

The comment section of your post is actually your feedback channel and that is where your readers are able to tell you what they feel about your post. The comments can be full of praises about you content, it can be critical, it can be funny or it can even try to put you down, but be of good cheer and learn from your mistakes where you need to, educate the comment maker where need be or laugh along and catch the joke been thrown at you. Don’t ever take it personal because it is not worth it and as you know a lot of us are still learning. Some don’t have the formal education or work ethics you have, so you must help to educate members of the community in your own little way.

The comment section is also used to pass messages across, think of how many times a friend, an acquaintance or even a stranger posted a link of a contest, new development, new Dapp and other stuff that you didn’t know about and it has helped you grow on the blockchain.

You are able to learn and enquire and get more information from the comment contributors in areas you want clarification or want to learn more about.

Finally, you are able to attract more upvotes if you have more people commenting on your post. A lot of people, myself included, upvote post we make a comment on because we like such post or want to encourage the content creator.

How To Increase Comments On Your Post

I don’t think there are clear cut rules or methods that will help you increase the number of comments people make on your post. But here is a list of some things that will help you:

Create great and interesting contents that captivates your readers, if you’re doing that consistently then you grow your followership base which in turn increases the number of people that comment on your post.
Follow people that post daily and are posting about things of like interest like @actifit members or @partiko users. There are high chances they are active members and you easily know what to comment on their post as they will also find it easy to reciprocate because of the understanding of how the community works.
Join communities that encourage members to be active by engaging with members of the community.
Target 50 people you follow that post daily and you have similar interest in, upvote and comment on their posts daily (that is 50 of them daily) and you will be shocked to see what happens to your post daily. While not all 50 users will reciprocate your actions, you will definitely notice a positive change.
Run a contest/giveaway, but make sure you already have good followership before doing it.
When commenting on users post make sensible comments that shows you understand what the post is all about. Stop posting one or two word comments like “great”, “good one”, “well done” and so on.
If you have a big enough SP upvote the comments of users who comment on your post. The size of your upvotes can be a motivation for them to always comment on your post.
Be a motivator and inspire people with your post and comments.
If you can, follow up on new members that are just joining and are struggling, be a problem solver to them.
Do reviews of Dapps you use, games you play and the different sites and promotions that are been offered.

Don’t coming to the platform believing you can make it on your own, there is just so much to learn and it keeps growing as each day passes by. To stay updated with current events you need to connect with users and the various communities that help members grow successful on the blockchain. Take time to also give back by engaging with people by commenting and upvoting their post for that on its own is a great motivation for many.
