Preparing Your Own Processed Spices – 2

The roof of the car is used to dry different spices like Garlic, Turmeric and Ginger because we have a lot of lizards going about their own business and we wouldn’t want them to come walking over them or adding other flavors to our mix. Lol. The rain has been a thorn in the flesh us as regards getting them to dry properly so that the grinding guys will accept grinding it. If it not well dried they usually reject grinding it because it sticks to the grinding engine and this is bad business for them because they’ll have to loosen the engine and clean it up. This is a waste of precious time and money for them so from the onset they’ll decline it if wet.

I went to the section of the local market where they grind such things these spices are very hard when dried such that the blender (grinder) in your house might pack up if you try using them. There are many young men and women who offer such services as grinding the spices and you can get confused if you are a first timer at the market because everyone of them will be calling for your attention and offering you mouth discounts to grind them. You must not be deceived, some of them don’t have good grinding engine that will grind them so fine, some of them will offer you discount while calling on you to come but by the time you come and bring out you ungrinded spices they say that didn’t know it was that much and they increase the price they had offered previously.

I am lucky to have a good customer who treats me well. Lol. The total cost to grind all the spices I brought was about $1.39. If I were to buy the quantity of spices I processed at the shopping mall it would cost me more than $200 all together, but from my garden I can get almost all the items used to process them, I got fresh garlic at the market sliced and dried them. My cost all together is not up to $10, but the great thing about it is that it is healthier and I know the source of everything, there are no chemical additives.
