Pausing my SteemVoter for a few days to recover; then, will request another round of voting!

in #life6 years ago

A few months ago, I asked my followers to vote for their top three minnows, and the 20 highest-voted I added to my SteemVoter rules, at 100% vote (which then was around $4; now, it's almost $12). However, from that experience I learned that was way too high, and over time reduced and reduced again, until it landed at 10% which allowed my voting power to recover (as long as I wasn't making lots of manual votes).

So, I'm planning to run a similar-but-different campaign, once my voting power reaches 100% again, which should be a few days.

(Marmalade, I like marmalade.)

Had the second temporary filling for a root canal put in today. I recommend brushing...1/2 :) And even more so -- oil pulling!

Anyway, also separately, I have managed to turn ~1.2 BTC into ~3 BTC during this downturn. Not using margin, although I did recently come across NordFX which advertises 1000x margin. I think that's a little too risky! I might start margin trading, so I can "increase while it's going down" rather than just when it's going up. If that makes sense; I feel I should explain more -- I'm holding CTR from around 24,500 Satoshis, and today saw it impulse up; in about an hour it went from ~9,500 Sat to over 15,000 Sat!

Unfortunately it was after I got back from the dentist that I noticed this, and it had dropped to around 12,500 Sat. I started selling there, and it moved up some so got out between 12.5k and 12.8k.

I did this not because I wanted to "set in stone" a losing trade (which I did, and need to record...) -- but, because I though that it would move further down after this rapid move up, so I'd be able to buy more back at a lower price, and then have that move up and, combined, both trades would be positive -- and could be, even if it never made it back to the starting point.

Were I using a margin account, I could have not only sold, but also taken a short position in it, so that IF it drops as I expect it to based on the chart, then I'd be gaining coins rather than just "not losing as it moves down." I've been watching videos by @philakonecrypto recently which inspired me to start trading the BTC/USD pair.

Back to the voting: this time, I intend to add 50 accounts to my SteemVoter, so I'll probably set each at a 5% vote.

Previous winners are listed in the previous tabulation blog post. Feel free to vote for them, there are no restrictions based on prior selection. However, I will ensure that the accounts I upvote are minnows, so if my assistance helped push them past that threshold, they're no longer eligible -- and, congratulations! :)

What defines a minnow? For the purposes of this contest, it's simple: the account must have under 5000 SP, and under 500 followers (from here).

Enjoy!

Oh, I was going to say "where'd the marmalade come from, for an SBD!" -- but then I selected it and searched, and Atom Heart Mother came up. So, enjoy this old Pink Floyd album I was listening to when I wrote that! :) (Now listening to Meddle, their next chronologically.) Also note that the cow's side in the image contains an Azimuthal Equidistant world map, or more colloquially, a "flat Earth map"! It's also on the face of one of the clocks in Doc's kitchen, at the beginning of Back to the Future. Not to be too disturbing in this post -- one's introduction to the true shape of things must be done carefully, as many people are in the category described by that old war movie, which had the quote "You can't handle the truth!" My guess? You can. Just beware of the symptoms of cognitive dissonance.

You doing a great work @libertyteeth... It feels really good when we see people helping minnows.. I am also a minnow.. I would love if I get some support from you... Thanks a lot...

Thanks! Enjoy!

Awesome man, awesome initiative. Thank you for all your support in the past and future. You are a great thinker and a blessing to many.

Hope I am still qualified for this position, no question, I have enjoyed your upvote in the past and I greatly have you to thank for upvotes.

Thank you. I don't want to be greedy though and I want others to enjoy too.

God bless you.

@stevenmosoes

You're welcome, glad it has helped!

Looks like you wouldn't qualify, based on the metrics I've worked out in comments here -- the initial metric was "< 500 followers, and < 5,000 SP", but someone said they have 600 followers but very little SP, so I said okay, it could be a combination -- each follower is worth 10 SP, then just add that to the SP value, and if it's less than 10,000 then they qualify.

Since you have more than 1,000 followers, the followers alone would account for more than 10,000, so you wouldn't qualify. Which is great, in a sense! :) Like when a company is "too busy" to handle incoming requests -- meaning it has to hire more people -- that's a much better problem to have than bored employees. :)

You could help by resteeming my upcoming contest announcement, now that you have so many followers. :)

Blessings your way as well!

Sure, I will resteem it. With the analysis I give up and give room for others. You have a great heart to help people and may you continue to increase in your endeavors. Amen.

BTC grows on trees for you... ha ha! I don't know... the cow map is not flat... its more like an elliptical cylinder or cylindrical ellipse!

:)

I find it really amusing that so many governmental organizations use the Azimuthal Equidistant projection in their logos. They might say "you can't handle the truth" but then they go and put it on display. :)

Ha ha...

Yes, and -- notice they put "bounty, or harvest" at the edges, where Antarctica is!

Why would almost every nation in the world sign on to the Antarctica Treaty -- preventing people from exploring there? Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd probably could answer that.

Our books got here yesterday, I am going to start on the Elliot Wave one today. Wish me luck! I took a good, hard bonk on the head last week, maybe that is what I needed to understand the shit you try to explain to me? lol!

Well, I suppose turnabout is fair play! :) You taught me so much in the esoteric field, back on DP/PL, I feel honored to be able to!

Sometimes I get a "block" -- I haven't picked the book up in weeks; just did so, so I could say what page I'm on: still only 63, which is the beginning of chapter 2.

I did have stock options back in the 90s, so I had a decent involvement in the stock market; but I never studied Elliott Waves and am blown away at how everything fits into these impulse/retracement waves! I mean seriously, almost every chart I look at I can quickly find an impulse -- waves 1, 3, and 5 go up, where waves 2 and 4 go down (or vice versa, in a downtrend); when wave 4 retracts, it never goes into wave 1's territory; and wave 3 can't be the shortest (of 1, 3, and 5). Simple!

It's almost like my brain doesn't want any more input -- "this is enough". And certainly, it's not enough; I've been watching @philakonecrypto's lessons, the 6-hour one I mentioned in a previous post which motivated me to trade BTC/USD and have more than doubled that account in the past week or so.

It's snowing here now, supposed to get up to a foot. Thus it's the second time we've had to cancel an appointment for my wife's knees, with a doctor who is using them [edit: stem cells] to help people with joint pain. Sounds miraculous and would be awesome if it worked! She needs both knees replaced, and this year was going to be the year to do it, so it's really cool to have found this beforehand.

Found an article on using stem cells to help heal teeth, but the pain was too great so this nerve had to get pulled. I feel bad about it, especially not having done much oil pulling lately, and knowing that I could have avoided this -- both the pain, and the financial hardship, it's gonna be around four grand.

Hope your head feels better! One way we can know that energy healing works -- if you see someone holding their hand to their head, you "know" they have a headache. That innate knowledge is because the healing energy flows out from our fingertips. I think it's really cool to be able to understand the world through tiny glimpses.

I have a feeling that's what Elliott Waves are doing, which is why I'm so drawn to them.

Thank you for this initiative @libertyteeth! It can definitely change the lives of a lot of people. I also saw @philakonecrypto on Twitter and I'm so impressed with his trading skills. I hope more whales will be inspired with your campaign.

That is a nice service you provide, when you don't have to, to us minnows! Thanks for sharing!

You're welcome, and thanks for the kind words!

Awesome initiative and this was brought to my attention by one of our admins.

Too bad I am no longer eligible given i have more than 500 followed already and is heavily involved in community building under both Ohana @steemitfamilyph and @promo-mentors which aims to teach and guide a lot of redfish and planktons to create original and good quality content.

We at Ohana @steemitfamilyph started with 10 people last October and has grown to more than 200 people and still growing so we will try to pitch for them to be part of the 50. You might want to look under the main account as we have a daily curation of the members who receive 100% from the account. It's not much about 24 cents now due to small SP we voluntary gave to it but is a boost to some.
Promo-mentors is the same that we encourage growth and development and most importantly retention of red fishes.
We will await further instructions and hope that you may consider some of our members.

Hey, looks like you might be eligible, based on the rules I worked out in a comment in this post. Basically, to combine the metrics in a way that they can be interchanged, because some people might have exceeded one metric but not the other.

So, followers are worth 10 SP, and that sum is then added to the SP. If it's less than 10k, then the account qualifies for the contest. You do! :)

Yey that's good to hear!!! We'll get a lot of our members to enter and hopefully some if not all can be chosen :)

Thank you so much!

Thank you @libertyteeth your upvote has been of great help, but let the newbies enjoy too

You're welcome, glad it helped!

So how will you add this time or just like previously :)

Yeah I learned from last time! Most likely it'll be the top 50, and they'll each get a 5% upvote.

And, of course, like last time I'll adjust it if I'm drifting too low too quickly.

Hi How do I nominate?
I really like crypto4iso she makes wine and posts about. ( of course I would like to be on the list as well, I blog about start-up company live ( biotech) and selfdevelopment, as an entrepeneur and manager )

I'll give instructions in the upcoming post; but it's just, make a comment and list the people you want to vote for. Note that this isn't that voting post though -- I won't tabulate any comments in here.

In the previous contest, a few people had the impression that upvoting someone else's comment would indicate their vote. That wasn't the case then, and won't be in the upcoming post.

Got it. Looking forward to the next post.
