How to Master Any Skill, Craft, or Ability! For those who feel they've plateau'd in ANYTHING.

in #life6 years ago

How do you practice? How do you master something? How much time do you need to spend daily?

I made this video because an overwhelming amount of students, friends, and acquaintances often present the same misconceptions about practice.

That is, that practice is only valuable if you meet your ideal expectation of how long and rigorous it should be. In reality, these expectations we set often freeze us in our place and stop us from progressing.

Make your practice less of a task in your head. Even practicing for 15 seconds is amazing progress! And I almost guarantee that if you dissolve your anxiety, fear, or mental block of practice and just take it slowly and small, you'll find yourself getting lost in the process and practicing even more than if you would if you tried to force yourself to hit X time.

I like how you framed it as maximizing your idle state rather than "being lazy" haha. It's a great point to make your practice part of your idle state. I appreciate your outlook on this and I completely agree.

Definitely! Practice should feel like breathing. We just do it! It's not something we have to force. The goal is to forget we are practicing.

Ideally, we won't even realize we started practicing. Then we will never stop!

Thanks so much for your input <3
