If you've watched movies about AI thid past couple of of years like I, Robot ,Westworld ,my personal favourite Terminator 2 they all depict the same future where AI becomes 'smarter' than human beings and decides to take of the world from them. The biggest question is 'what's the possibility of this happening?'

Maybe lets start by defining 'smart'. Smart can be defined as creative thinking. According to Guilford, J. P. (1950) creative thinking can be divided into two: convergent thinking and divergent thinking. He defined convergent thinking as the ability to answer questions correctly, which is a display of memory and logic. He further defined divergent thinking as the ability to generate many potential answers from a single problem or question, which shows a flair of curiosity, and an ability to think “outside the box.”

It's now easier to see that AI overpowers us when it comes to convergent thinking. They have superior memory and processing power but what about divergent thinking? I like to think of divergent thinking as being closely tied to consciousness. What is consciousness? That's the hard question humananity is still tryna answer. Remember when Scientists tried to make Proteins after studying the chemical structure and came up with Nylon instead?! My high school teacher said that was proof that there was a higher power involved in the creation of humans. I feel like it's the same thing with Consciousness.

So it's safe to say that for now AI will not be smarter than humans 😁
