Why Do Men Deny Paternity of Children Who do Not Resemble Them?
There is this assumption, in some cultures, that the children of a home should either look like the man and/or his wife.
When the woman gives birth to a child who doesn't have striking resemblance, especially with his father, he begins to doubt and sometimes outrightly deny paternity. Many women suffer ,emotionally, in their marriages as a result of this kind of mentality.
Men do not automatically deny paternity if the children their women give birth to do not bear a striking resemblance to them. Men in general do not require their children to be carbon copies of themselves. Such a thing usually only happens if a man thinks there is some reason to believe that his woman may have been unfaithful to him. One such reason could be that the child looks strikingly different from the father as well as the mother. If that is the case, the child being conceived by another man is a possible explanation and the more likely the greater the difference in appearance. Isn't all of this quite obvious?
Thank goodness there are now DNA lab testing centers near the corner to clear any doubt.
That is true, @greenrun. Unfortunately, many couples cannot afford to pay for DNA lab testing services. I really see many Nigerian women and children hurting because the husband and father believes that his child(ren) are not his.
Any man that feels strongly suspicious of the paternity of a child should come up with the payment for such a test. At least, that's the only way to be truly sure if what they suspected is true.

Well one it could be the worst case scenario:
Insecurity #1: She cheated and you think its not yours
Insecurity #2: You want a legacy of your GENOME to go one and one way is for children to look like you
Insecurity#3: You are just mental because you don't appreciate a healthy baby/child
My brother was born with thick red hair and no one in our family has red hair. However, me and my brother were born as twins so no one ever questioned if my dad is the actual father... I wonder what would happen if he was born as an only child hmm
Hey @ggirl! Glad to hear from you. It's interesting to know that you are a twin. If it were to be in Nigeria that your twin brother had thick red hair (when no one has that trait in your family), your mother would have been sent to 'hell' by her in-laws and society. Cheers.

It isn't a must if a child resemble his father or mother. It is also not right for the man to deny paternity cos his child did not resemble him.
Such case happens if the man suspect his wife or both of them are unfaithful and have distrust between themselves.
