The Alt Rich : Managing the Modern Condition : Part 1

in #life5 years ago (edited)

We are homo sapiens living in a digital world.

It can be challenging,
it can be tough,
but it can be done.

Think for a moment about what we really are ...

we are the by-product of millions of multi-celled organisms living, breeding, dying and slowly but surely, advancing themselves into more complex organisms.

We are just monkeys without as much hair

When you see yourself in this manner, the man walking down the street screaming furiously into his cell phone seems a bit more ... quaint.

The point of this short anecdote is this :

We are biological organisms that evolved in a world that is VASTLY different than ours today.
We have terraformed the majority of the earths surface,
creating artificial landscapes in places that were once organic ...

These actions have brought many wonderful things.

  • Increased prosperity for so many.
  • Increases in healthcare and general well being ...
  • Technology that allows us super powers

But ...

They have turned our world and our lives into a rather hectic and stressful ordeal.

We have to learn to live differently.

Imagine if you could teleport yourself 1000 years into the past.
Everything around you would change, yet you would stay the same ...

What would be different??

The-Land-Before-Time.jpg
they never worried about FOMO

Let me use myself as an example ...

currently I am sitting in a cafe, listening to music, typing away furiously on this laptop ....

1000 years ago I would still be sitting here (chairs can travel through time space as well ... small loophole)

but...

The music would fade away
The noise of the refrigerator would be gone
The shuffling of chairs and clicking of keys would be gone ...

on a subtler note,

the electromagnetic field created by my laptop and the other electrical devices around me would be gone
The air would have less contaminates and most likely a higher percent of oxygen
I would be sitting outside instead of in a controlled environment ... in my case the air temperature would drop a few degrees.

It is easy to forget how much is going on around us

Our sensory organs are constantly bombarded by stimuli whether we know it or not.
The brain is so adept and handling stress that it blocks the majority of these stimuli ...

Even if you are not consciously aware of these stressor

your body is...

torus-2-people-500.jpg
a representation of our energetic field, or a multi-dimensional model of our nervous system

If you really want to experience this for yourself ...

Walk into the woods.
Leave your cell phone behind.
Sit in the middle of a forest and listen.
Your brain may start experiencing anxiety as it searches for stimuli to hold it's attention.

Depending on how long you stay you will begin to experience various degrees of sensory deprivation ...

you may even hallucinate!!

Our attention is our most valuable asset.
Everything we have ever done is the product of applied attention.

Protect this asset.
Don't let others usurp it from you.

Use it wisely and with complete awareness of it's real value.

Sort:

It is a new era. Digital assets will change the game.
