Or on the track over the weekend this car is the world at you're fingertips. After all, for those of us of a certain age, the 392 is certainly one of the cars of 2011 in which to be seen. And, if cruising is still looked upon as a summer ritual this car is realized as a year round treasure. Take comfort in the fact that automatic-equipped models come with Chrysler's Fuel Saver technology, which allows the engine to operate more economically on four cylinders when all eight aren't required.

Inaugural Editions come in a choice of two colours -- blue with two white full-body stripes (in the case of the tester) or white with blue stripes. 392 Hemi badges flank both fenders. At the back, quad exhaust tips deliver a righteous sound while adding the requisite styling cue of a serious muscle car. The 392 also rides on 20-inch SRT-exclusive wheels that feature a polished face and satin black painted pockets. Chrysler uses the term "race-inspired interior" to describe the 392 Inaugural Edition's Smooth Pearl White leather-trimmed seats and dual blue stripes accented by unique blue stitching. I call it a match made in heaven.

In addition, each of the front seats features an embroidered "392" just below the headrest. Motor heads will love the SRT-exclusive Electronic Vehicle Information Centre, with performance pages that provide trip information, multimedia information from the radio and -- the piece de resistance -- instant feedback on zero-to-100-km/h time, 100-to-zero braking, G-forces, one-eighth mile and quarter-mile times. I felt good driving the 392. It brought back fond memories of a time when performance and presence on the road was paramount.
