Provide more opportunities

You love to read and spend a few books every day. While your child does not care, instead choose to play or watch television rather than pick up a book. This is very natural when you consider even greater tension in the struggle for reading time for your child.

However, reading will provide many benefits, ranging from generating imagination to the effects of reducing stress. In fact, those who often read books experience improvements in vocabulary, enriching the memory and even a sense of healthier self-esteem. All of these benefits can have a positive effect on your child's life. Then how can you instill a love of reading in your child?

In order for children to read and enjoy it is one of the challenges quite difficult faced by the parents. Here are six suggestions to help children to read:

1. Start early

Your child is likely to love reading when you start reading to him at a very young age. It's never too early to start reading! Even when they were babies, children who were read stories by their parents benefited greatly. Babies learn how to talk as well as communicate skills, rather than actual words from their experiences. By reading to your child early on, you provide more opportunities to develop early-stage speech skills. In addition, children love attention, and you provide additional time for inner bonding.

2. Model

If your child sees you reading in your spare time, they tend to read on their own. Talk about the book you are reading and what is interesting about the books.

3. Read together

This comes back to the time of the inner bond between the children and the parents mentioned earlier. Children want more time with their parents. If they understand that they are getting more mom and dad moms through reading, they will develop a passion for the activity that can be a source of strong motivation.

4. Help children choose books

Reading should be a non-coercive option. Let their interest be their guide. If your child is a 12-year-old boy, he may not be interested in books filled with stories about princesses and ponies. Instead, provide him with reading materials with varied topics that he is interested in. Better yet, help her choose books that contain figures that are her age.

5. Reward their achievements

Some children are motivated by the accomplishments they achieve; while others are motivated by the award for the achievement. Make a clear chart with which your child can browse to where they are reading. Make sure that there is a clear purpose at the end (number of books or pages read or amount of time spent). Once they reach their goal, celebrate what they accomplished with something special.

6. Set aside time to read

Specify a certain amount of time for your child to read every day. After a few weeks of consistent reading, then it will become a habit.Many parents who like to read automatically assume that reading will be enjoyed naturally by their children. But reading is often a pleasure gained, something that children should strive to obtain. If you continue to persevere to read to your children, your children will discover the joy that results from reading and appreciating throughout their lives, ultimately benefiting from being someone who is used to reading.
